I played hard enough to nearly miss the last train back to the hostel every night when I was in Japan, nothing unsafe there. Strangely enough, I don't feel particularly unsafe in New York City either; but California (at least Los Angeles and San Francisco gave me the look-backs) I guess one just have to be a sensible backpacker, you know, not to count money in public, not to wear 8 inches minis and run after a bus, not to wear loose tank and bend over that kind. Anyone with half a braincell know that. And the Japanese had plenty to do! They are keen on organization, like the Germans, everything is labelled and clear and all. Plus, they invented plenty of cool consoles!
