i would just like to announce that the fight between chinese and korean people in my college has finally broke out. a fellow student in my college organized a party on last sunday night and most asian student's came along. the party ended a 4am then suddenly a fight broke out, apparently what i heard from a friend is that one of korean guy chatted up a chinese guy girl friend and everything just went downhill. who won? of course the chinese but i've got to say the chinese out number them big time and those korean guys actually held their ground pretty well. it started as 1 on 1 fight but i guess chinese just like to fight in numbers and everyone just rushed in. i filmed on my phone if anyone is interested.
All Asians..so I really don't see the need for conflict actually. Let's all be nice to everyone regardless of nationality or skin color -^_^
no i dont really think korean and chinese hate eachother, i have korean friends and we seem to get along just fine, i also have a friend that has a korean wife so i dont see any problems at all
why do we always play race into factors? can't you just be yourself? why do we care how koreans or japanese or chinese or whatever race is judging you. isn't the self more important then associating yourself to other people point of view?
Here's a better answer than those given by wrong people I am a Korean guy who has been in the US for 6 years now. ( So please excuse any errors in English) I spent my childhood and adolescence in Korea. Of course, every individual is different, but I will go ahead and divide Asian people into two groups (regardless of nationality) 1. Those who spent the majority of their time in the western cultures (I'll call them non-FOBs) 2. FOBs.. I identify myself as a FOB, and I will speak as a FOB, hoping to give you a rare opportunity to hear an opinion from one of us. I said rare since most of us (mostly Korean FOBs, since I may well be wrong about Japanese/Chinese FOBS) , if not all of us, will never leave a reply to these kinds of threads because we speak our national language, and don't bother reading/writing English. (That's what we struggle enough to do in classes, etc.) Have you ever seen those Koreans who always circle up with themselves talking only Korean, making no attempt to mingle with others? Yeap, I'm one of them. I'll cut the introduction short. My main point is this: Yes, Korean people despise Chinese people. I have read some of the replies and noticed how many people say that they did not observe such phenomenon. That is because this is a website in English. Given any person writing here, the probability that s/he is a non-FOB is much higher. They tend to place less barriers between the three cultures than FOBs. I also noticed some people asking whether others could distinguish K/J/C from each other. Being a Korean from the Korean culture, I can tell whether a FOB (non-FOBs are indistinguishable to me) is a Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, or Chinese at the first glance from their style, hair, and facial features in that order. If the question was asked in Korean in a popular Korean website, you'd see the majority of people saying that it is true. Again, I must say that every individual is different, and there are many who love Japanese cultures and even some who love Chinese cultures, but as I said, you'll see the majority of us hating. We call them "JJang-ggae" or "Dde-nom". I know as a fact that some Japanese and some Chinese people hate us, also, which would be much more apparent if you asked the questions in the appropriate sites. Oh, I also noticed how Taiwanese people hate Chinese people, too. Above was my opinion deriving from my experience with Korean speaking Korean people in Korea and in the US. Now comes my personal hardcore hating: yes, I hate the Chinese people. I hate their faces, I hate their greasy hair resulting from being too lazy to wash, I hate their styles (very distinguishable..!! look at their ugly pants and shoes), I hate their mindset, and I hate their accents. If you read any odd news stories from abroad, chances are that it is China. I remember an article about a Chinese woman who tried to teach her dog to drive and ended up (surprisingly) in an accident. And that is a fact.
Even though I'm Chinese, I agree completely with the racist Korean. Based on my own experience, and my assumptions about Koreans and Japanese, that is exactly what goes on. The people who go on about never seeing it are the innocent white-washed wannabe asians who probably don't know shit about what they're talking about. Just because the Chinese kids watch Korean dramas, it must mean there's nothing wrong between them. Just because the Koreans like sushi they probably like Japanese people. You may not actually observe any conflict between high school kids, but I doubt any of the Asians tell people about how they don't like black people either.. Asians may hang out with each other based on the fact that they're Asian, but given the choice, they'd much prefer their own ethnicity. Some things don't have to be said out loud. People are always gonna stick to their own kind, and that's a fact, regardless of how much society develops. Of course, there are always exceptions. I'm generalising, but it's likely the truth.
First of all by Koreans, does it mean both North and South Koreans? Secondly, why do the Koreans hate the chinese? I can understand their hatred for the japanese but the chinese? (I have a weak knowledge concerning history so please elaborate) It's hard for me to imagine so much hatred just because of how they look and speak as letsplay said.
Well no culture is perfect and susceptible to ridicule. I'm pretty sure that most aspects being criticized is true for any culture. I'm a Chinese-American married to a Korean and there are times we make jokes or criticize our cultures. We have an understanding that it's just nonsense talk. But, I wouldn't go as far as to say that to my friends. My family, on the other hand, keeps saying that Korean guys are chauvinist and I ignore them because many men think like that too, not just Korean.
So this hate is based off of their features, "mindset", and the way they dress? I can't understand how that can be the foundation for your hate. Although, I'm not blind to how others act. I gone to schools where the student body is quite diverse. I have many friends of different cultures. I am AB myself; but, "Non-FOB" or "white-washed" is not how I would like to describe myself. I've learned my culture through my upbringing. And I'm proud to say that I've learned my parents native language on my own without going to a special school, but rather from watching dramas and practicing the written characters. I've been told that I speak, write, and read it quite well. My family is a mix of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Philipino, and Vietnamese; some AB, some not. Yeah....quite the "melting pot". :0) And proud of it. :0) I must admit I tend to hang around others of my own ethnicity. But, I believe that is because I may have the most in common with them. Not because I think that my ethnicity is better than others. If I make a joke about a family tradition, they would be able to understand and maybe laugh with me because they had to do it growing up. People should look beyond and accept physical and cultural differences. Learn to open your eyes, mind, and heart. Everyone is human; we bleed if we are cut and are hurt by words of hatred.
^ Interesting in how Koreans view Chinese. I would honestly say that I hate Korean culture very much, Im not just saying this suddenly because I hear a Korean posting in this forum saying that he/she hates us. I think Korean culture is very strange…. 1) the tone of the language sounds horribly country style, every time I hear Koreans speaking in these dramas, it sounds like they are shouting and arguing with each other. All these ‘yae’ wae’, ‘oing’, ‘gae’ and nung sounds hurt my ears so much 2) Koreans try far too hard to act American, they have this strange American dream. I remember once when I was watching the news one guy jumped off the flats because he couldn’t get a visa to America. Also every K drama my fiend talks about is either one or 2 of the main characters have gone to US and done an MBA and have come back to korea. They act superior and incorporate quite a few English words or sentences in the drama to act high class. And the K-ancer series, they are so boring. 3) Korean guys in majority although with exception though have very wide round or squarey faces and single eye lids are very ugly. Korean girls, apart from one or two of them, I don’t find them pretty at lot. Most of them have done surgery around the eyes and chin shape. Bunch of plastics and synthetics. And yes I can tell who is Korean by just looking at their facial structures 4) Korean fans are bloody crazy, they are full of hatred and jealousy. They stalk every artist and take all their privacy away. In addition they cause a lot of artists to commit suicide as you Koreans know 5) Korean ppl copy and compete with the Japanese culture very much, and even pretend to be Japanese and at the same time they hate the Japanese. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAVeFCVevM8 6) Those Korean traditional clothes are sick. First of all, the big plated hair those women wear around their heads and the weird pregnant hanbok clothes. Its really horrible comparing to the Chinese and Japanese traditional clothes. 7) Koreans are greedy and their dreams are far too big! Did you know that they created to BoA TO REPRESENT THE WHOLE ASIA TO SING IN AMERICA, starting off with Japan and conquering over asia. No way in the world would a korean represent asia. She can represent korea all she like but not asia. 8). Koreans think they are so superior! And do Koreans not get greasy hair after a few days? Are their styles so trendy? For those who think they are, youve been watching too much Korean tv.
^ Jesus Christ funniest and most racist thing i've read in this thread so far i can counter every single one of your dumb comments but instead Im going to close this thread simply because most people have nothing valuable to input other then to provoke their own racist stereotypes
