Language Switching (codeswitching)

    Hmm, I 'm sure I've seen a similar thread before but alas. I can switch between 3 languages and use a mix in a convo with my sis (who's also on this board somewhere) -unsure But I've recently found out that I use a lot of English words in normal convo's with the Dutch despite the Dutch alternatives but I can't come up quick enough with some words. Must be the Internet influence.

    LOL...Yea most peole can codeswitch. I can too but i am researching on why it happens...and are people concious of it.

    ^Oh interesting subject you've chosen! I think I'm not really aware when I switch languages except when I'm speaking with someone who doesn't manage a language so well, I'll change it to make it easier for both.

    Edit: one thing is for sure, I don't switch between languages because it sounds cool or so. It's more like, if I don't know the a Canto word when I'm speaking Canto, I'll switch into whatever language I know for that word that first come into mind.

    I speak many languages and do try to answer everybody with their native language.

    haha. my first language is burmese. now i speak English. sometimes i use both when speaking with my family.
