lolz actually labtops are quite nice for home and for portability but they both have their positives if your getting a labtop might i suggest getting a tablet they are damn sweet especially if your still in school or in bussiness they are great and has hgih resale value i believe i desktop would be much better for gaming
both are different? It all depend on what you like, your need and etc. if you need something that you need to carry around with (eg. to work, uni and etc.) then of course laptop will be better, as it is more portable. however if you don't need sto carry around, then desktop would suit your need better as it is cheaper, has a bigger screen and often faster.
I bought my laptop for the fact that it's easier to move when I relocate (from one house to another), which I do often. Plus, I don't plan to resale it, upgrade it. I will just use it until the laptop dies (life span's around 2-4 years for most laptop) and buy a new one ^o^b
