Just focus on Kidman's conspicuous evil and CGI armored bears... The story is messed up (relatively to the books)

    And go read the books!

Speaking of fantasy movies. I saw the new trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Judging by the trailer if you didn't like the first movie you won't like this one. But of course I'll go watch it. I was fated to watch it ever since I read the books. lol

I know I am bound to watch it no matter how bad, I can be suckered that way :p Like His Dark Material, I would have seen it KNOWING FULL WELL that it sucks...

The golden compass sadly over the weekend, I remember seeing the trailers and in general the trailer didnt look that bad. Same cant be said about the actual movie.

Considering the quality of the actual film, I think a sequel is somewhat unlikely...

But then again, it's possible that New Line decided to ruin the series further...

PS> I didn't even think the trailer looked good :(

Hey its made 40 mill already. Why not make a sequel? You know how Hollywood is. If it makes money keep it going for as long as you can.

  11. urgh. the movie industry is gay.

if they make a movie that makes millions, but the movie turns out to be shit, they would make a sequel thinking it would make another millions.

yet if they make a movie and its shit, they decide to not make a sequel because they think its gonna be shit too.

    an example.

ST: nemesis did shit in the box office. the new movie planned was a crossover between TNG, DS9 and maybe VOY. but nooooooo they decided to scrap because they think its gonna crap too. fuck the planned one is better than the one coming out next year christmas. FUCK.

JJ Abrams is gay for wanting to do a TOS series ST movie. Paramount is gay for losing faith in Rick Berman and the TNG cast.

only those who know what im talking about know what im talking about. lol

Well people still got to watch those movies. Examples are Rush Hour, Rocky, Scary Movie, National Treasure, The Fast and the Furious, Daddy Day Care/Camp, Are We There yet and The Grudge.

There are a lot of BAD sequels that were made in the past, which could have been prevented if people didn't start to watch the horrible series in the first place.

The Mist. absolutely a horrid movie. still traumatized from some scenes. a little thrown off by the plot...but i guess the main focus should really be based on the morals and philosophy of the movie. overall i applaud to stephen kings for having guts...

I am sure I am ALREADY suckered into seeing it if a sequel is going to be produced. Not that it will make me hate New Line any less.

Then again, I avoid way too many films (most of them comedies and animations) that I can afford to spurge on bad fantasy films (which actually has certain appeal to me, like Golden Compass = Philip Pullman, although not really...) :p

Flawed logic, as simple as that... Most likely I wouldn't be bothered with a film (unless there's something to warrant me seeing it), but then once I know I need to see a film, I would stick by it pretty much through thin and thick regardless of how bad it can get (not that it would stop me from whining and b*tching about it afterwards though :p)

I know what you are talking about but I didn't follow enough to be a trekkie... (meaning, I don't know how good/bad each of those series are, although most of my trekkie friends hated VOY and loved DS9) How about Enterprise? Some of my friends thought they are starting to recycle the plots too much...

The only two I actually seen in that list of sequels/bad sequels are National Treasure and Grudge... I liked Sarah Michelle Gellar in Grudge (plus Edison in the sequel!!! :p)

I am not even going to bother with National Treasure 2, I really can't be bothered with American history and bad archeology references...

I think I also saw Fast and the Furious (not its sequels) free on TV...

watched war of the worlds last night. it was on tv and i had nothing else to do cause there was a snowstorm. the movie had its moment. too much of a rip off of other movies. (independence day, aliens, 28 days later etc.) tom cruise was alright. typical tom cruise movie with his upclose shots of his eye reactions, a scene of him doing his tom cruise run, and eventually saving the world or watever. woulda liked it better if the aliens actually took over. best scene was when dakotah fanning was standing by lake. that girl gets paid 10 million a movie! craaaaazyyyyy...

But then she's REALLY good at screaming in War of the Worlds... I thought that she (voice-)acted better with her continuous screaming than Tom Cruise... I guess that's just me... :p

    ^no i agree. she can act. i just can't believe she's making 10 mil a movie! i'm soooo jealous...

  19. lol a true star trek fan would correct you by saying its "trekker" not "trekkie" haha

but im not gonna do that because i dont think im one of them... altho i know a shit load about it lol (and for others, no im no geek, nor nerd. i have a perfectly healthy social life).

anyways, TOS is a classic, i loved TNG, i liked DS9, and i also liked season 5-7 of VOY. i cant say i liked ENT.. it was.... non-canon.... it suddenly has a ship thats not supposed to exist..... but the idea is cool... i mean... they still wear dress shirts and ties lol

Talent has its appropriate price tag :p I would be much more willing to pay Dakota Fanning 10 mil (if I have 10 mil to pay any actor/actress) instead of Tom Cruise based on the respective merit in their trade...

But people at cons are always so totally divided over "trekkie" and "trekker": "trekker" would think that "trekkie" are wannabes who doesn't know sh*t about Star Trek; while "trekkie" think "trekker" are just having their *ss full with formality... So it's a never ending war in the fan base... I usually use the "trekkie" term because 1. I am nowhere near the proficiency in Trek to be a "trekker", and 2. it sounds better (in my opinion).

LOL, geeks and nerds are next super heroes in social life man... Don't be ashamed to embrace your inner geek and/or nerd :p

I am still somewhat traumatized over Trip getting "pregnant" back in Season 1... So I can't say I pose a good judgment over ENT...
