Store bought kimchi? I haven't found a store bought kimchi that I liked yet in Canada. In Hong Kong, I bought a Kimchi with Squid and that was so good, I could eat it just with rice. The ones in Canada are too sour for me. Chicken filet for lunch.
The reason why many store bought kimchi is very sour and even salty is cause of the time it gets to you, the longer it stays around, it's going to ferment longer in those jars, that's where you get that sourness from. I sometimes go to korean supermarkets to buy freshly made ones. But I usually just looks at the date and how ripe the cabbage is and if the cabbage are almost see through, just skip it. Like in kdramas, old kimchi is good for stews and soups...
Speaking of ice cream. I would love to get my hand (or mouth) around one of these. Porterhouse steak with chips & vegies + mushroom sauce. 2 glasses of red (cab sauv.)
