Of course it does help with chronic medical issues, it also eases people's psychological pains, i.e. phantom pains from amputations, they help a lot.

At the end of the day if cannabis does ever get legalise in America, most country will follow and I hope they do :whistling:

Well .. the result is in and the proposition about legalizing marijuana is a NO. I personally think the extra taxes is good; however, the demand for medical usage is minute comparing to the abuses. Honestly, I feel the legalization doesn't really cut down on crime. Again, marijuana is used for medical reason so the black market is still on - more accessible to young people and abusers.

what abuses? in all fairness, MJ is probably less abused than alcohol... Why WOULDN'T legalization cut down on crime? all the pot growers in other nations don't have to sneak it over the border anymore unless they lace it with something illegal... do you see gangbangers on ur street hustling cigs or booze on ur street corner? if MJ is legalized and u can buy it legally, prices go down, why bother risking ur ass to the cops for a measly $5?

sure, initially there maybe a large influx of abusers because it's finally legalized... but like all new things, the shine eventually fades...

I'm not being funny if cannabis becomes legal, it won't be just used for medical reasons. The Government will mass produce marketable cannabis like tobacco and alcohol, therefore it will be legal for people above a certain age limit, maybe 21 if it's America. So at the end of the day you can always say people abuse alcohol and tobacco but its still legal? Think of it that way.

If this idea had come through the only crime there is, is selling the shiz to underaged kids end of. -noclue

I say legalize it, as others stated above marijuana does more help then harm.

True .. tobacco and alcohol are enough .. don't you think? Why need more?? I rather be conservative with my vote than let hell breaks loose .. lol .. and other voters agreed.

More like why not illegalise tobacco and alcohol?

But noo... The Government is too damn greedy and money grabbing towards the taxes from them. So extra income from the cannabis would make the Government very happy indeed

They both smell horrible. We don't know the long term effects of inhaling smoke from weed. Anyways, inhaling any kind of smoke can't possibly be good for anyone, just because it doesn't cause cancer doesn't mean its ok. It could cause all sorts of other problems.

It's all down to personal preference with smell I guess. Just like inhaling solvents, glue, petrol etc.

 I believe most voters voted no because of the headache it would cause once it did become legal in terms of how it would go against federal law... that's the exact reason why the governator, candidates for governor and the papers all said no... cuz it would go against federal law and the supreme court woulda ultimately said no...

HOWEVER, since we didn't try at all, there's no way we can even CHANGE the federal law now as it didn't become a national issue...

  11. all the pot heads decided to stay home and smoke instead of vote

Frankly, I think the issue is how the law was written. It will grant cities the power to tax and regulate weed as their see fit. We will have a situation where it will be freely available in one city and then banned a few blocks up in another city. What scared a lot of people is the fact that cities like Oakland will give a government mandated oligopoly to a few large growers. I do not see how that situation will be better than now. The pot movement needs a new law that does away with the taxes and just legalize it statewide.

uhm... what? did u not read the part where it says u can grow your own weed? how would that cause an oligopoly? think about it... can one person really smoke 25sqft of weed in about 3-4 months? ur not harvesting rice, it's weed ffs, i know people that grow a little bit of it in their backyard just to light up once in a while...

also u have to take into account that we're still in a capitalistic society... cities, like maybe san leandro or alameda, that need more tax funds can just lower the bloody prices if Oakland's gonna be a lil bitch and hike up prices... there's like 20+ cities in the bay area, u can take BART and head over to SF for probably better weed than Oakland...

    wow .. speaking like you're a regular .. lol

yeah .. the fed still prohibits marijuana and legalizing it will create lots of headaches for the state especially when we're already in the red. look at GAY MARRIAGE .. who's paying the legal fees?? that's why I didn't vote for Gavin Newsom. the legal issues with the fed wasn't the main reason behind my choice though.

marijuana should be legalised. authorities are just uncertain about the after effects. and they think that if they do the majority will disapprove and they will be unliked

i guess its different for different countries and their cultures.
