Shit scary stuff, poor guy that was killed. That killer needs to be locked up is a psych unit cos he is obviously unstable.
If you ask me, either would be just as nasty... Yech... -what? I don't think we're picking on him as much as we're surprised by his choice of commentary. As we've already seen here, the mind can be a very strange thing (and no; mind you, I'm not attempting to compare Phil's offhanded remark to the actions of this grisly crime, they're not even close). And in other bizarre but chillingly similar crimes: ...and this too: It must be something in the water these days... Ralph
Recording from the RCMP officers at the scene. Named the suspect "Badger" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJf1O4oX6aQ
Oh....god..... I have a feeling that guy actually knows he did wrong, but during the time, maybe he wasn't in the right mind, but afterwards realsied what he did, so probably stayed quiet... It's rather disturbing...the world isn't as safe of a place as people think. But how is it that these sort of crimes seem to be increasing as of now...? and Phil...dude, stoopid comment, but yeah I want an explanation why woman too, you big pervert! lol I know it may not have seemed comical to other thread readers, but Phil is stoopid that way, doesnt think before speaking... ¬_¬ RIP victims... x
my dad just told me this story saying video games were to blame......danm more ammunition for jack thompson to latch on..
dude... name one game where you can stab someone 50 times and cut off their head.... fuckin ridiculous, maybe if the teen was the one to cut off the chinese guy's head they might be able to get away with a 'video games kill people" story, but it doesnt even fit with this event.
(Disclaimer: I play plenty of bloody video and computer games, and have done so for almost 15 years, but I (mostly) support Jack Thompson) This particular case has nothing to do with video games, per se. The suspect was reportedly a paranoid schizophrenic. I think the video game association comment made was vis a vis the total amounts of reckless unfettered violence in most games today. Many games compete and try to outdo the other on their giblet factor (or amount of human body parts flying). Take a look at the Too Human trailer, in which two of the game's characters toss around a decapitated head and make jokes about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62gzooxvYYA And the phrase: "One shot one kill" Where did you first learn of that? Thompson's criticisms of video games rest mostly on the general desensitization to acts of violence that the game industry (amongst other media) doesn't want to own up to. Or let me ask this; if you tested the average 15 year old, what are the chances that he or she would know how to use a cardiac defibrillator versus knowing how to load and fire and automatic pistol? The actual mechanical skill sets required for both are remarkably similar, yet most kids would only have a vague inkling of the former, but be almost certain of the latter. People know how to do certain things if they've been indoctrinated (taught) into how something is done. That indoctrination can take place in a classroom, through literature, or through repeated visual instruction into how something is done. How many times have you taken a head shot in Counter Strike? If you had a real rifle, do you think that you can do the same thing if you had to (say, to defend your family, etc)? The answer is, of course you can because you've been trained with an excellent simulator. Despite playing games a lot, I happen to agree with Thompson about video games being Murder simulators. When we take a game like MS flight sim and learn the concepts of aerodynamics and how to fly, we call that a flight simulator. But the game industry has a problem if we label shooting games as murder or killing simulators? Thats a bit disingenuous as much as it is politically astute. Would parents allow their kids access to games if "Learn How to Take Peoples Lives" is emblazoned all over the box? The game industry is loathe to admit this. That's why they have legions of lawyers to protect their interests, that is, to sell products where children can learn the concept of "One shot one kill." But should a teenager then actually take a rifle and start taking head shots, the game industry will lament about the child's poor parenting, or how a psychiatrist dropped the ball instead. Most people don't inherently know how to kill, and even those with guns years ago only took body shots. Head shots only became the norm with mass media exposure, which includes the video game process. Play your games, but be wary that you've lost your innocence. The game industry is in only in it for the money, even as they train our next generation of kids to think like killers. <_< Many of you may not think so right now, but just wait until you have your own kids and see how quickly they pick up on new ways to hurt the other guy. Then maybe some of you will appreciate what I'm saying. It would dawn on many of you then that when you were young, while your own innocence was taken away; you spent your time in discussions such as this, trying to protect and argue for the very people that did it. Then you'll realize why Jack Thompson is so pissed off. Frankly, I myself still like and continue to play many of those games that Thompson rails on about. And I don't agree with everything that Thompson says. However, I can certainly see games for what they are, even as the game industry shills vigorously deny it. Ralph
haha shit he is CHINESE. I heard hehaha shit he is CHINESE. I heard he ate parts of the face as well. ate parts of the face as well.
