i'm canto myself ^^. i can speak cantonese long enough to hold a conversation. as for mandarin, i'm still learning. i can write some chinese after taking lessons in the past. i still have a long way to go though if i'm ever going to be good as my parents. ^^
Im speak cantonese and I understand mandarin. Im looking to improve my mandarin since it will benefit me for future job opportunities. In my opinion, mandarin is the better sounding of the two dialects. It just flows better than cantonese. That is one reason why cantonese rap doesnt sound right compare to mandarin rap.
i can speak both, but i think most people in hong kong can speak both nowadays... somewhat... correct me if i'm wrong. lol. don't live there anymore so i'm not too sure. =P
Well, it's just pretty much passion and influence. To some people, being Chinese is simply a fact, no other attachments (ie. Culture, language)
Yes it matters if u speak mandarin or canto, i wish i would be able to understand canto dat way i can download & watch some of the tvb series dat they have on this forum.
