hm... im an ABC, australia born chinese =D cantonese, meh mado seems to be used for often in buisness
I speak Cantonese and wish I could speak mandarin (will learn it soon). No reason to say one is better than the other. It is all the same if one could write Chinese.
Actually, Mandarine is becoming more and more important in our society. As China slowly moving toward technological tread, people need to be able to speak mandarine
im canto but i can understand mandarin whats funny is that my english last name is spelled in mandarin so i guess i originated somewhere thats mostly mandarin? haha
Yeah, Mandarin is becoming very popular amonst non-Chinese. I know lots of 鬼佬 learning it now, and in fact, some are so good at it, that they speak it fluently like a local. Mandarin will be an important language to know as the PRC (China) will soon rise to become the economic superpower in the next few decades, surpassing the United States and Japan. But on the other hand, I have to disagree - and that Cantonese is a 'better' language. It is such a beautiful and expressive language - which is why many of it cannot be represented by words. It is a spontaneous language, with many combinations of words, representing full emotions. Go cantonese! -rockon
100% Cantonese born & raised ! FTW !!! hehe But I speak Mandarin equally as fluently as well since the Wife is Mando.
i'm Cantonese and speak Cantonese at home... i'm learning Mandarin at school but it's not really sticking. =\
