Lawsuit coming up if the guy has the right connections. I dont see why they had to pull guns and all on him. Guess the popos should go back to training 101 instead of going ballistics. -pirate
so this is the buzz that was going around the news corps for a few days now. lol. interesting vid. IMO, the amount of force placed on Andrew Meyer was appropriate. however, there is part in the vid that i think andrew was treated "unfair". In most "Q&A" section, the questioner is require to ask the question and then he/she automatically sit down and wait quietly for the response(s). however, in this case he clearly showed that he wanted to finish his question with/without his mic. therefore, obviously demostrating he doesn't understand the rule of the "Q&A" section; which I think all of the questioners were brief on how they were to ask their particular questions. but there could have been a more "fair" response from the police force -- since they could of kindly ask meyer to sit back down -- instead of immediately escorting him away from the mic. but beside that -- i think meyer arrest was appropiate and he did break the law. the amount of force is respectable and after he was tazed; he cooperated, which was the whole of him being tazed. my two cents.
Yeah, I read up on multiple sources before I started pointing fingers and it appears that this obnoxious Meyer guy has caused scenes at similar events in the past. One source say that when the police was holding him by the arm the crowd started cheering because they (the crowd) wanted the kid be taken out of the room. It's probably debatable whether or not the cheering was for or against Meyer.. I personally thought that the kid wanted to make a scene out of the situation more than anything. The mic was cut (there must be a good reason for it) and authorities informed the cops to restrain him from his continual talking, yet he resisted and continued on like a nuisance. The whole "controversial" side of it was definitely avoidable had the police taken him outside and handcuffed him (which isn't so hard considering there were 6-7 cops on him). The taser was definitely uncalled for, especially in front of such an audience. What surprised me was that Kerry was just standing by while this whole thing was happening, if I was a part of the audience, I would've expected him to have went over to the scene and at least attempted to stop it. Instead, he stood up there and answered the kid's question while the kid was being tasered.
you know, im not gonna say anything regarding freedom of speech, considering i didnt even hear what he said, but what really pissed me off was the use of taser WHILE ALREADY DISABLED! like, wtf? why in the fucking hell, would you tase someone, who is DOWN?! its not just police brutality, its called abuse, and bullying. as for this kid, whatever he said, i dont care, i wouldve just gone with them nicely, and clear things up at the court house.
Tasing was completely appropriate. He was resisting arrest; he wouldn't even turn his back to hand-cuffed. He was given the chance to cooperate and he refused. Therefore giving the officers the right to tased him. The thing is andrew meyer was told he was going to be tasered. therefore, it was fair-game. if you want to see ruthless tasing from a cop -- UCLA, a guy was tasered to the ground in the UCLA library before given warning. And repetitively tasered by the officers arresting him. that is abuse of power.
yeah, but the question is really... should he have been arrested/tased at all for such a minor offense as asking a question during a political debate and holy shit that was another intense video lol
@apollon: why was he arrested in the first place? scary. authority-abusing cops or cops on steroids. which one's worse? i think part of the reason why people didn't help the guy was self-preservation. but also growing up, we've had ingrained in us that the cops are good guys; they know what they're doing and they are the law. if anyone was to help the guy, they'd probably be spending a night in jail as well for assault against an officer. first instinct is to just watch and stay on the sidelines.
doesnt matter what appears in his website or whether he is a pratical joker. He was participating in a forum and was asking questions which john kerry were willing to answer. The treatment he received was over the top. Shame on those who didnt even bother to help him. I mean, john even offered to answer his question. what the hell is the cops doing, still tazing him. Just let john answer the god damn question and haul him off.
lol. i don't really know. possibly the officer wanted to initially "force" him back into his seat -- however, his violent movement and gesture suggests a notion of disturbance in a public forum. but, like i said before -- it was the officers' first response to Andrew that is questionable. they could of ask him to sit down instead of seemly "force" him to reside. however, the ending actions are appropriate since Andrew Meyer did indeed demonstrate an uncooperative attitude. and obviously impeded his own arrest.
omg..whyd they tazer him...lol...those ppl sittin there were like staring at that guy being tazered and arrested...lol
the cops in both of these videos are retarded. i don't think that tasering was necessary in either case, even if they were resisting arrest. in the first one they could have forced him around and cuffed him. in the second one, the only reason they taser him is b/c he won't stand up??? i got annoyed just by the number of times they had to tell him to stand up, fuck, they should have just dragged his ass out, why did they need him to stand??? i mean, what would they have done before the taser was invented? shit, it just seems that they are trigger happy with their new toys and they should get better training cause all their abuse is gonna get captured and played on youtube eventually. this shit is wrong
