hihi ipoh mali tarak sombong..anyway where do u stay?

anyway there's one place near my house which has nice laksa and fresh fried 'ja liu'(can be called yong tau fu) as well...there's a big tree as a landmark so if i say the place is dai sue kiok(under the rain tree) many will know it...

and nearby foh san(dim sum place) or taugeh ayam area there is a taufoo fah stall with a bunny as a banner

if u prefer special gourmet food with comfy environment indulgence is probably my fav...i've never tasted most of the food there...the cake there is nice but a bit pricey...located alongside with ipoh specialist hospital(forgot the name of the road)

i tell you if u like white coffee in old town, u have to choose wisely on which shop to go because there are 3 shops next to and opposite each other...they are nam fong, sun yuen long and sun yuen fong if i'm not mistaken...sun yuen long is the most famous for its coffee but seriously i never go there...i think their taste has gone downhill...whenever i go i'll go to sun yuen fong which is next to sun yuen long....their coffee and toast is nicer...nam fong's coffee is ok and the char kuey teow is so so too...

another place famous for white coffee and curry mee is chang jiang kopitiam which is luckily also near my house....there is a stall selling fried chicken skin which is crunchy and tempting...

^OMG!! You just listed out all my favourites (except for the coffee la)!! And I think we stay pretty near each other. I stay in near Shatin Court - which, btw has the best claypot chicken rice I've ever eaten.

Mmmm...yeah, the tofu fa place is called Funny Mountain.

Indulgence is THE place to hang out...not too often tho...can burn a hole in your pocket. Their tiramisu and brownies is to die for!! That road is called Tambun Road.

There's a chu jap zhuk (porridge with pig innards) near Chang Jiang too...not too bad.

shatin court?that's near!...10 mins drive from my place.... i stay just behind The Store lol....always go pou in econsave lol...

funny mountain? i never knew lol...i always referred that as tou jai tau foo fah (rabbit tau foo fah)
the chu jap zhuk stall has been there for 'centuries'...we refer that place as redifussion (lai diu foo sing)...
been eating there last week..the taste still the same lol....

i forgot to add...the curry chicken bread yau kee in jalan kampar is nice too...

^Haha...that's such a coincidence. Probably can plan a makan trip when I get back to Ipoh this wkend! Econsave & The Store? That's where my parents shop practically every week! LOL

Huh? Curry chicken bread? You mean the one near the traffic light at the end of the chu jap zhuk stall? I thought they closed down already...

Oh, and right opposite the porridge stall there's another shop selling seafood porridge...I heard it's really good, but expensive.

More yummy food would be the beef noodles in Old Town, opposite Kong Hing. They have really tender pieces of beef in soup...and nice beefballs too. Speaking of beef noodles, there's also the beef tripe noodles near Sam Tet primary school.

^they moved to jalan kampar already...a really big shop there...just opposite chung ling association

haven't tried the seafood porridge before le haha

kong hing? is it near tin chun? i'll have to go and try...anyway tin chun is famous for it's egg custard u know that?

along the road when u first turn from the main road into old town there's this palce called nam chau....famous for curry mee...u know wat? their drinks ho, everytime they want brew the coffee or tea, they'll have to weight the power first...make sure the amount is precise so that the taste is standard..but personally i think that's such unprofessional of them...after making so many cups of drinks they still need to rely on the weighting machine...that's why they are very slow....

and then there's a mini stall opposite tin chun that sells special currypuff..the name is OCK karipap...their curry puff is big and yummy...

i saw from ur other posts that u are studying in IMU, aren't you? back for weekend holiday?what course are u taking? nursing? pharmacy? biomed?

^Yeah, kong hing is next to tin chun. The beef noodles is diagonally across the road. Yeah, I used to love the egg custard. They serve the same thing in Lok Wui Koi in town, the shop opposite Kamdar. That shop has decent kai see hor fun too. And nearby there is Pak Kong chicken rice...very nice chicken rice there.

This Nam Chau place, is the coffee good? Dun see why they need to weigh the powder first. Yeah, I know the currypuff stall. But haven't had one in ages. It's the one with egg inside right?

Yups...I'm doing med in IMU. Back for two months. Gonna be attached to the Ipoh GH for a month, and lepaking for the other month...hehe, cos I haven't figured out what to do for my electives. Haha...maybe I should start a food based elective! LOL

Yeah, Ipoh is famous for hor fun (flat rice noodles). And the beansprouts and beancurd from Ipoh is supposedly of superior quality too...you don't usually get such fat beansprouts elsewhere. And the beancurd is supposedly smoother because of the so-called cleaner water, since Ipoh is in a valley.
