it's an ok looking .. no engineering problem .. in fact i think it will be beautiful if they finish the job. if it's ugly, i am sure nk people will not let them built it in the first place. they may be poor but they're not stupid.
xD It may be the surrounding buildings that add to its unpopularity. It looks like a giant compare to all the other buildings
yup thats one ugly building but i presume lack of funding meant its not finished. probably wouldve looked nice when its finish though ~
i dont think its THAT ugly...im sure there are many buildings that look worse la...the music in the vid was kinda bad tho lol
Well, for a country still living in the 1950's, it's a perfect reflection of their style. It probably started out as some grand ambition (remember that was the late 1980's) according to the vision of Kim Il Sung, the Great Leader, who died in 1994. As his power passed to his son, the hotel project probably lost political backing and fell by the wayside. Then soon after, the DPRK was hit with several years of starvation that required the assistance of international food aid. Hence, there was probably little money or even desire to continue the project.
well, the nice thing about it is that it accomplished one of its intentions.... it's an eye-catcher =D
