physical damage here eh...thats a bad sign...n its not detecting in the enclosure...once the physical aspect kicks in..its going to be very radom in how it acts before it physically crashes n just stop period...tools n commands will be useless at this point..since it unpredictable in how its acting...you have no gurantee on how much of ur data u can get back with the tools i have...pull wat u can from it n stop booting or checking it!..that will only m.ake it work more n kill it faster.....
oh first off it wasn't able to read when it was in enclosure. 2nd, it was already slave. 3rd it's Hitachi!!... not that it matter, but I just wanted to mention it. So anyways here the update. Booted it up, and it actually loaded a bit faster after I left chkdsk on for the whole day. So when I rebooted, cancelled chkdsk... waited a long while and was finally able to logon to windows!!! so everything just slowly slowly loaded back up again. See I knew lady luck is by my side..-whistle. Ok so after a few minutes, I was able to browse thru the folders like nothin has ever happend, but the thing is it took a really long time for the programs to start up. So i figured since the comp. can detect it again, i'll gve the enclosure another try. Here is the really part. The laptop was not able to detect the drive. And I had downloaded AVG to try and scan it, well during the install when AVG ran a scan thru the system, the Hard drive got detected!!! yes, all green lights now. So now I got an ice pack on my Hitachi and waitin for the scan to finish. Now on to my next delimma... when I tried to start up windows with just my C drive(Master)... it does not load.... It seems kinda weird that it need my slave drive in order to boot up. I have yet to put the C drive in an enclosure and see whats up with it. So, now I'm kinda confused as to whether it really is an hardware issue or somethin else... it's very strange... I'll keep yall posted as to what happens.
well..u said the busted drive made noises...as for c not booting until the slave is there..hmph..thats an odd one...any partitions on the slave?...how exactly did you have them configure and wat were they used for before the problems started...
no partitions on any of em. just one 40gig master and 164gig hitachi. And I have no clue what happend, it just all of the sudden started to go crazy on me. So what kinda softwares are you suggesting I use to back things up? It just doesn't run all that well in an enclosure. I might give it a freeze tomorrow to see what happens
straight up copy n paste to back up...backup software will just put pressure on the drive...n to run the tools..ur drive needs to be detected..since radom shit is happening..no point with the tools.....theres physical damage....it'll just get worse...
Are your HDs IDE or SATA. if it's IDE try moving the HD to the other slot on the cable cause the cable also has a sorta slave/master configuration for cable select setting. That kinda happened to me some time ago
well just scanned the C drive and apparently I still had Win32.pinfi in the damn drive. All the .exe in the system...\_restore is all infect, which is about 2,000.... So now I'm kinda skeptical about whether my D drive is infected as well... but the thing is I jus don't get why it would fail on me, since it doesn't even have windows in it...
i would suggest stop trying to check disk and scan for viruses and what not. If its not getting detected as a slave or enclosure its probably not a software or virus problem, i would say its more like hardware problem so just back everything up by copy and paste or somethin and wipe the hitachi and use it as a junk hd. At this point check disc and crap wont work, and heck that stuff is bs anyways, i've never used check disc and never will. Its pointless to use that stuff for a hardware problem.
yea it seems like a hardware problem, but I'm a lil skeptical as whether it might be corrupt from viruses and what not. the drive seems like it wants to work but somethin is holdin it back. I'm just waitin for a chance to revive it. Of course I'm backin up as much files as I can right now, but the file transfer is way slow... And I got a 3 year warranty on it, so I ain't trippin'. Just don't wanna wipe out everything and send it back if theres a slightest chance that I can bring it back to life.
no point in tryin to revive it...again..i keep saying..physical damage and it will act very random..just copy and much as u can now...
My Harddrive Spinnin' Niggah!! It's Spinnin'!!! Hitachi on 22's... I'm tell ya I dunno what it is... but just seems to keep working more and more... the damn thing loads up damn near normal now... it's weird... PS: Almost Lucky Post 888!!!
lol imma let it spin till it blows up... It's taking me too long to burn stuff cuz the drive only stays somewhat stable in PIO mode... Come on "Top Techy" help me ou here...
=/ I probably get FobMan to fix it for me... but cant cha see I don't wanna let go.. I will never let go... my hard drive too damn precious -lol. I dunno don't wanna send it back so quick...
