I wonder if people believe that unique voice in your head (you) is simply your brain. or maybe something that is dependant on your brain to survive.
@無得頂: Even bones and teeth will eventually decompose... That would be the true meaning of "ashes to ashes" @m_g: I don't really have a "voice in my head" since I talk to myself incessantly @_@b Others probably think I am crazy So yeah, I do the whole pros and cons thing with myself all the time and it can get annoying (even to myself) ^^b
@無得頂: hehe exactly! i mean, about the pile of rotting flesh & bones. so what's the point of being famous when in 5 years (or around 10, 15, 20, however many years) no one will know you except your descendants.. and then they'll only know of you.
^ I wonder why everyone's so obsessed about being remembered... Be great and you'll be remember without creating evil offsprings (which adds to the escalating problem of exploding population there...) Would you NOT remember Mother Teresa? Einstein? Beethoven? Edgar Allen Poe (okay, perhaps not EVERYONE knows Poe) but how about Shakespeare?
just look at people like Paris hilton, she has what we will very likely never have yet she want fame on top..... yes its greed. this seems to be a time where everybody wants their 15 minutes of fame.
heaven ... lol. haven't been there yet, but i see it as a place of peace and calm tranquility. a place where we can all finally stop being competitive and attackful. where the feelings of happiness, fulfillment, and peace are all emotions rushing through my mind. it is hard to define, but just a place i want to be in. -coolio
Well... so the whole "wanting to leave a mark on earth" concept is a form of greed... Okay... That just sounded odd.
depends on your intention, most people dont want to benefit mankind, they just want attention and money. IMO if u leave a mark on earth then fine BUT striving to leave a mark on earth is just silly (IMO)
^ Well I guess you have a point, I am sure Einstein, Bach, Beethoven, Ghandi and all of them had ambitions of their own, be it betterment of mankind or furthering knowledge or constructing art...
Same here as much as I like to think there is afterlife but don't think it really exist. This is way to make people feel better after death.
you dont seem to be 100% either way, my advice for you is to seek God, put religion aside and seek the God of the universe. after all it could be your eternal life at stake if it isnt just a way to make people feel better.
i do have a question on that if you dont mind... "put religion aside and seek the God of the universe"? sorry but, last time i checked, Godly beliefs were religious..
I do not think such a thing exist, its merely a myth just to occupy us so that we stop thinking about the subject at all. Theres no way to tell unless its been experienced. And how would we know if its real if we can't experience this?
ok Nicole if your unable to understand me and you want a fuller explanation of what i was saying to you then feel free to ask
uh no. just stop being a coward and answer my question. its a yes or no question. really simple. now just say yes or no and ill leave you alone... i really dont understand why you gotta go and hide all the time... its called a discussion, and when im wrong, i say im wrong. nothing wrong with being truthful and honest.
it depends on your question. if it is address specifically at Christians ... then yes, God has to do with Christianity. however, the aspect of God doesn't necessarily have to be considered with religion. by definition -- religion: a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. cc/dictionary.com
But then besides religion, few explaination of the universe involves a God with a capital G. Plus, who coined the term "God of the Universe"? And who exactly is he?
