I hate places that do that. Its usually the places where the waiters do the least amount of work too, so I always go for paying cash there so if they give crappy service I can give them less than usual.
There are more restaurants that include their tips in their bills. I was at a sushi bar the other day and I didn't realised that they had already included 10% tips to their bill. When I paid for my meal, I added another 10% !..The waitress might have been really happy that night ! I usually add tips to my meal whether the service was good or bad. I know of some friends that don't tip at all..cheap bastards !
i only tip where the quality of the service is up to my standards. i worked in hospitality before and even though i looked foward to tips i never expected it of customers. mainly because they already pay for service & product when they eat out. that is just an extra bonus. i know the waiters/waitresses get paid poorly but why should it be taken out on customers?? besides its taxed.
I also dislike people that don't tip , I found that Indians in Canada don't tip... or is it just me? I am not being racist or anything.
Low tip if bad service. 15% if good. I hate how the employers expect people to tip so they pay worked little. As customers, it's not our fault you have a lousy job. If you serve me well, then I will tip. That's how tipping came to be in the first place.
some places include tip in the bill or like tlk out loud making it a big deals saying how u didn't pay tips....its stupid
I worked as a waiter for one of the nicer Chinese restaurants in the Oakland area. I hated the outfit, but liked the tip I was getting from banquets. Not including my check I was getting about $200 a day, but it all depends on how big the parties are. Sometimes we would do two banquets in the morning on the second and third floor and two banquets at night. In terms of tipping I wasnt complaining until I started working at a retirement home. The retirement home that I worked at had a huge dining room. We were servicing residents that are very well off and they pay a lot of money to live at the retirement home. Well the thing was that we do not get tips, but we do get a yearly bonus which wasnt much. We also got raises if we worked a certain amount of hours. I was getting paid about $12 an hour as a waiter and $15/hr as a host. As a part time waiter/host, I only received about $200 for my annual bonus. We get the same customers everyday so we get used to them, but some of them are cranky and bitter. Its not a good idea to piss off your waiter. I had to hold my temper on several occaisions. The freaky thing is that the people that we service do pass away because of their age. Its not uncommon to find that the person you waitered the day before just passed away in their sleep. When I go out to eat I give my waiter a reasonable tip and I never give them a attitude because I know what can happen to my food if I do. Besides, being a waiter is a lot harder than you think. Sometimes certain things are beyond the waiters control but they are the ones that gets an ear full from the customers. The chef never gets bitched at because they stay inside the kitchen. Being the host/supervisor is even worst because you have to keep that fake smile and hold on to that the customer is always right attitude. I hate it when I have to settle an argument between one of my waiters and a customer. My advice is to Tip and treat your waiter with respect, unless you want the special sauce of the day on your plate.
Sometimes, that depends of their services quality. On the other hand, when I feel like it, I will tip them...
My friend whos a waiter makes bucks in tips. on a good typical day he makes £40-£50 a day in tips only
i was a waitress... i didn't get tipped... it didn't bother me... n i don't usually tip either the japanese r not allowed to accept tips not matter wot occupation u r in
