yes, i have a few friends that tip so little when we go dine. i get extremely disgusted and i have to cover their tips.. especially when the bill comes out to be over 400 dollars and we pay only 30 $ tips. that is unacceptable..
seriously. waiters and waitresses work really hard for little money. i worked at this cafe in the summer. the boss there is so shady! he keeps the credit card tips and the employees split the cash tips. wtf??? isnt that illegal or something?? i was so pissed when i found out. if the cafe did things legally, i would make at least 10 bucks extra each hour. ugh!
that is shady on the boss part to keep the CC tips like that...you should have taken some extra liberties on the job grumpy123 to make up for it
I tip all the time unless its poor service but some places the tips dont go to the waiters/waitresses the manager keeps it to him/herself :/
=X i really dont think it should be expected that pple give tips. besides, restaurants usually already have a service charge included in the bill, so arent we already paying for their services? i think providing good service is part of the job, and tips are really just bonuses. plus i dont like to tip cos it's like stuffing money to pple and i feel bad doing that.
what are you talking about?? i don't know what kind of fancy restaurants you go to but the ones i go to usually don't have a service charge. in some restaurants the waiters and waitresses don't get any salary at all. everything they make is from the tips. if you don't tip you're just cheap. unless the service os really bad of course.
For the most part, I do aim to tip at or above 15percent. However, if the service or food is completely unacceptable, I'll definately give accordinly. But it does suck tho when you eat with a big party and they charge 18% gratuity and then the service just sucks because they kno they're getting the tip regardless. Other than that, I do believe the servers need to be tipped well for their services.
well, if the service is bad, u cant blame them for not tipping, i mean last time i ordered something and it didnt come for ages, they just left it on the side, i was starving like hell
Does depend on the service a lot...I have to admit, my parents only tip 10%, I tip much more...I guess it also depends on how you were raised on tipping... I've heard of stories of people working in Chinese restaurants for $4.50 Canadian and the boss keeping the tips too!
tipping should be mandatory at all places (restaurant or banquet halls). i work at a banquet hall so tipping isn't so common. but ppl only tip the bartenders cuz they get free drinks at weddings. what they don't realize is that not all places distribute those tips evenly and the bartenders pocket it all. we are the ones who clean up and bring back all those bar glasses and bottles. With two servers to service an average of 50 customers a night.. it's hard work. so ppl should keep in mind next time they're at a wedding that we work at minimum wage ... with no tips. so please be nice and tip.
tipping shouldn't be mandatory, if it is then the service at any restaurant would be bad or not up to standards. I usually tip depending on the service I receive at a restaurant.
just because servers make minimum wage doesn't mean they are entitled to tips automatically. yes, it's the custom to tip 10-20% depending on type of restaurant but you still gotta give service. but honestly, i think the whole system is stupid to begin with. service charge should be included in the bill. if a server gives crappy service, customer would complain and get that person fired.
I think the standard tip would be 15% for most people. They should add the 15% tip on the receipt because it usually takes me a minute or two to do the math.
honestly, why should we tip? I tip because society does it, I know they work hard to make their money but I do to.
i always tip 10% or slightly more. AND I LIVE IN CANADA. The area i live in, i always see ppl tip the waiters/waitress, hair dressers, and etc.
