@rth: I left HK with the 11.15pm Ferry and arrived in Macau at 12.15am. Went to the Sands Casino for some drinks and their stunning live dancing show. Left their for the shots at around 3am and walked around until 7.30am.

Great to start a new hobby! Nice camera you got, just keep shooting, get off the automatic mode, P mode is a good start, play around with all the buttons and get familier with the menu, take same shot with different exposures, get a photo editing application and work on your photos. Tripod is good for night photography, light painting etc very very fun stuff. Have fun!
Well, I think that was a strange post from ducdiva, maybe just a post to get higher counts? Personally I would recommend every first time DSLR user to use Aperture Priority mode. Gives you enough freedom to get your style and helps you bit with Shutter speed selection. Most professionals actually use AV mode because M mode is normally used for difficult environments. With changing conditions it's a pain to change the camera settings all the time.
