It connects to the wide connector at the bottom of the ipod. This is known as the line out. Audio quality coming from the line out is much better than from the headphone jack, this is true because the audio is supposed to be amplified then fed to speakers. In my case, I'll be feeding the audio from the line out to the headphone am then to my headphones. So when I'm actually going to use it. It'll be something like this: iPod > Silver Line out cable > Headphone Amp > Headphones.
