i didn't make tea eggs, those are brine eggs, but it's the same recipe except adding tea leaves/bags i didn't follow those recipe online cuz i hate to measure, so i did it by my instinct.... 1. boil water using medium heat then cook the eggs for about 5 min (turn down the heat a lil bit) 2. take out the eggs & put them in cold water for easy peeling. 3. you can go buy those "low shui bao" (spice bags? ><) if you're lazy like me (i dont have those herbs/spices @ home). 4. pour the following in the pot: tea bags, "low shui bao", soy sauce (preferable "low chau", dark soy sauce?), water & sugar/rock candy. The exactly measurement is base on how many eggs you have. [let's say about 10 eggs? 1/2 - 1 cup of soy sauce, 1 tea bag, several tbs of sugar, then add water to cover the eggs] The mixture must cover the eggs completely & always taste the mixture to assure the right taste. 5. Cook everything for @ least 30 min, then turn off the heat & let the eggs stay in the pot for about 1 hr before eating them. ROTFL!! isn't there a movie about teens eating worms.
This thread is great and has given me loads of ideas for cooking. Is there a thread with all these recipes together. Keep up the good work especially the pictures.
That would be a really good idea Someone make it happen -bigclap It would probably need to be locked though and kept up by an admin, so that conversations don't arise Made this in June. It was my first time making Tempura veggies -blush They don't look that greatly done, but they were sure yummy I used wholemeal flour though, because I was trying to be healthy
Biggest compliment ever! Haha, I didn't think it looked that well done. Not compared to proper tempura anyway! Yes I love Japanese food, aslong as there is no meat or fish Which sometimes leaves me limited!
^it looks like one of those images that pop up when u google image search tempura. not bad for ur first time vegetarian?
@Hobogloves99 Haha, yeah vegetarian. And thank you. But I didn't google that picture, I promise *hands Kay_xD a cow*
Nope no fish, used to eat tuna but I'm put off it now. Veg is yummy to me Especially if you add spices! I also eat Quorn which is a great meat replacer yummy stuff.
^wow, 16 years O.O ive heard about this vegetarian thing where u still eat seafood, i don't really get it though...how does that work?
Quorn sounds a little hardcore what i dont get is why a vegetarian would want to eat something that is just like meat, do you want meat but without the guilt of eating an animal, also if you say quorn (which taste just like meat) is 'yummy' then your also saying meat is 'yummy' so eat it lol? i dont understand this stuff but im just a meat eating guy
^^^^^^-offtopic-offtopic-offtopic-offtopic-offtopic-offtopic-offtopic-offtopic go start a veg discussion thread -chef
I dont c what is there to "not understand" the woman prefers not to have meat... its kinda like her convincing u not to have meat... its an endless discussion n no one wins... its just to each its own right... u like ur beef, she likes her veggy... done
^lol naa, im not trying to convince her, just trying to understand it, i always wondered why some people reject certain types of food but eat imitations of it. personally i think you can eat what you want, if u veggie then , if you meat eater then , i cant see myself eating veg alone, i would waste away :(
I have no idea really , haha. I guess it's different for different vegetarians, but for me personally, I don't eat meat because the thought of it really puts me off, it's not because I feel bad for the animals, just the thought of blood, guts and the fact it was moving around like myself a few hours/days ago just really makes me heave! I'm really fussy with my food, if I think about where it comes from too much I will get put off it, I don't even drink milk anymore or eggs, even though I used to love eggs - the thought of it too much put me off .... yet I eat cheese. I'm very odd P.s - Sorry KaY_xD
