Took like 30 episode before real acting appeared. [Seoiler] Gallen Lo's death scene on the bed was the most note worthy thus far. His skin color, his eye bags, his facial color, and his smoker's speech was on point. For those that have been in real life situation, will know. Hit home. Meanwhile Fred Chung is irking as with Allys crying. Spoiler [
overall I thought the series was pretty good. Though I still don't think Jacqueline and Fred fits the character but they did pretty well at the end. I have to say the relationship between Gallen and Jacqueline was pretty well written out. I personally thought Ali nailed her part. I do like the business aspect of the series, I like a good behind the scenes internal business battles. Though underrated, the character Howard was surprisingly a well thought out character and the character matured as each episode went by.
Totally agree! The relationship between Gallen and Jacqueline panned out really well! I didn't like Fred, I don't think he can hold a lead role like this one. He lacked charisma. Some of the dialog for his character was very witty but when he delivered it, it was just not well executed. It was so dull. -_______-
Agreed, Jacqueline with Gallen was good. Fred was a bit off or just lacking. =/ Spoiler The ending with Fred and Mani teaming up was =/ Gallen's assistant reveals the truth to him and all of a sudden he helps at his request. No one is that well adjusted in my opinion, not immediately. Another TVB fairy tale moment there.
yea, i agree on that end, I believe Fred's character could've been better, don't know who, considering you have to factor in the age difference between Gallen and Fred. Perhaps Him Law? To be fair, as much as I complain about Fred the first 20ish episodes, he did do a good job in the last one. I will give him that.
Yeah, definitely can't (and not fair) to compare Fred with Gallen. I think Him Law would've executed the relationship part of the character better than Fred, not sure about the other aspects since most Him law's roles has been lovey dovey =) I think Jonathan Cheung did a better job than Fred in this series, but his character wasn't as well developed as Fred's (grrrr script!). I enjoyed Fred performance in the Forensics series with Bobby and the other series when he was playing Wayne's son. Maybe it's too early for him to have such a prominent role in a series. I think you need a lot of charisma to hold up a series.
yea, I remember Him in 36 Hours 2, the crying scene where Eliza passed away, he nailed that scene very well. Overally not much complain on my side lol, I'd say the series is about a 6-7/10, I personally liked it
When you think about it, the whole series was about Fred scheming for 34 episodes and then forgiving his father with 30 minutes remaining. There was no build up, no internal struggle between Fred and Gallen. It was basically a bag w/ a time box and a flash back scene with vaseline screen which made Fred reconcile his hate. LOL Terrible! While I think Fred is a cool guy outside of his acting role, his delivery of a bachelor, brash, overly self confident individual was rather excessive. Ali's character and herself was also irking. Irritating to see her act so feeble and vulnerable when Fred harasses her.
Don't get me wrong, I liked it too =D just disappointed this series wasn't top notch, since Gallen don't make many Tvb series nowadays =p
True, retrospectively the plot is pretty simple. I thought that was refreshing and made it ultimately very different from Ruco's burning hands =p I might be biased because I'm a Gallen fan from way back, so I'm glad he's back to do another series =) Fred and Ali had no chemistry. I found Ali's son annoying too. But Ali's friend Laura was pretty funny and enjoyable to watch.
yea that was one thing that annoyed me, Fred had no chemistry with Ali whatsoever, and the kid annoyed me as well lol. I mean to be fair, Gallen was always a good actor in my opinion, and I also did enjoy this better than Burning hands. I felt overall the execution of this series was a lot better than Burning. Maybe because I felt the cast around Ruco was weak besides Paul Sin and Joel...other than those 3 the entire cast sucked for me.
Yeah, burning hands was a bit too much. Too over the top. I wonder if this is the last series we will see of Fred lead given his cheating scandal now. Sort of sad, he just started gaining popularity. Celebrities really need to becareful nowadays with all this tech. There's no secrets, only a question of whether it's newsworthy.
Yeah Mr. Diana was a very memorable one for me. Its because of Mr. Diana that most HK indoor guys started gelling their side burns down to their jaw line. Gallen is OG and started the side burn business before the buffonery of Jay Chow Funn. Gallen was good, but jesus they used heavy skin foundation on him in many scenes. I JUST wished they gave him more of a significant role or something. He seems more of a back up supporting cast member. His death bed scene is on point, but sadly TVB saved just that one big finale for him.
Yeah I totally agreed that he should've been given a bigger role. It felt like they placed Fred as the lead rather than Gallen. In some ways it makes sense too, Gallen isn't back at Tvb to make more series, so why would Tvb want to promote him by giving him a bigger role. I suspect Tvb is only using him to help promote the newbies. Yeah his dying scene was the best scene for him in this series. And overall he looked like he's aged a lot. Surprisingly I think he looks younger in the photos when he was live promoting the series than actually in the series.
Not bad series.. the group of scammers I thought didnt really fit or was weird.. I think it would have been just as good without them...
LOL. I been asking the same. Seem like you and I have an eye for the same thing. Good Taste. You got a screen cap from the episode?
