Thanks for your input, and I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, that's what I wish for, as that's where I excel compared to many of my computer science colleagues. I also did go to many fairs (and that's where I've found most employers who called me back for an interview). However all of them asked for a technical assessment. They seem to be looking for a mass of people to brute force compute problems, rather than people who can play are larger role (lead/manage/design)..
It's kind of sad that this seems to have turned into a "Dan's life problems" thread.. But screw it. Parents of PA: Hypothetically speaking, if (god forbid) you happen to be in a severe financial problem where you cannot find a job due to the economic recession, your savings are being drained, and there's a possibility of having to sell the house, what can your kids do to emotionally/financially support you? How can your kids help you in such a situation?
