On June 30th, it was revealed that Shoujo Jidai (SNSD) will participate in this year’s ‘Summer Sonic 2011’ as the first Korean female pop group that will participate at this outdoor live event. This summer is predicted to be as hot as usual in Japan and this group, known for their beautiful legs, is expected be giving a ‘hot’ performance in heat. ‘Summer Sonic’ has been around for eleven years since the summer of 2000. This year, they will have four performances at two cities and are expected to attract around 200,000 people. SNSD will make their appearance at the Tokyo performance at OVC Marine World & Makuhari Messe in Chiba on August 14th. SNSD will appear as a special guest after the Canadian pop star, Avril Lavigne’s appearance on the 13th. Popular bands such as RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS and X-JAPAN will make their entrance there as well. The Korean group, who made their major debut in Japan on September of last year, sold 700,000 copies of their new album, “GIRLS’ GENERATION” (released on 6/1), this year. Currently, they are touring the nation with their fourteen concerts in six major cities and have brought a total of 140,000 fans to their tour as of now. Officials stated, “From this tour, the quality of their performance was evaluated and the organizer for ‘Summer Sonic 2011’ enthusiastically requested that they would join.” This will be the first time they participate in a summer festival like this.
