Densha Otoko is supposedly based on a Japanese BBS thread. The story is, an otaku (geek) helps a beautiful woman who is being harassed by a drunk man on the subway. He posts to the BBS about it, and later when she sends him a thank-you gift he solicits for advice from the other posters. The relationship picks up from there, with him constantly asking for advice online. There was a movie and a drama series made that was based on this story, but I have no idea if the original thread was actually genuine or not.

What's with all the people that believes the girl didn't say no? Busy + Not leaving contact info + Not leaving an available time = NO Most cute girls that I've met/known can't give forward answer to those type of questions because they don't want to be "mean". However, a "no" doesn't mean you can't try again. In fact, there are some that finds such persistent types attractive, but you need to step your game up and engage her in a challenging way so you can catch and maintain her interest, otherwise the answer will still be some form of no even if you ask a million times.
