What I mean is, any Accountant path is nothing w/o a CPA. We can worry about actually being employed or not, but the CPA is what counts. You seem like you are fit for accounting and it takes a special type of person to do it.

I don't see myself capable, but it is crucial in any business.

Good for you. I tried accounting, and it just wasn't for me. What's odd was that like most kids, we bombed the 1st two exams. So the professor curved and allowed us some' incentives ' on the final. I literally aced the FINAL lol... I did finally study though, but more so I only did cuz I had to.

But then I just didn't want to deal w/ accounting as I think accounting is nothing but a fraud and it is. ;)

I'm gonna turn this conversation around for a bit...

Espresso, it seems to me that you don't seem to satisfied with your career choice to begin with. If that's the case, I would consider making a career change now while you're still early in your career (you've put in only 2 years so far?).

But on the other hand, while I think it would've been a good choice for you to at least throw your name in the mix for the job. I do think it's ok for you to decline the job if you don't feel comfortable with it for now. But you can only turn down so many jobs before they stop considering you at all. The reason why i said you should've applied to it is that you said that there was no guarantee you'd get the job. Why worry about something you're not guaranteed to get. Drop your name in to show management you're a bit ambitious and not to mention it gives you a chance to polish your interviewing skills with no risks attached.

I think you're still young, so you're allowed a couple free passes, but I think what mostly everyone says is true. You need to push yourself out a little and try something new, if for no other reason than to fluff up your resume.

good luck with your 5 year plan. :)
