Depends on the restaurant, some places have very good ha gau, siu mai usually has lots of fat in them, I like wonton too.
for a dim sum meal: #1hau gau (steamed shrimp dumpling with NO pork fat) #2 siu mai (steamed pork dim sum with NO pork fat preferably ... but harder to come by) For dumpling wars: #1 war tip (potstickers) #2 sui gau (soup dumplings) are best AT HOME made fresh ... so much better that way though i know some northern Chinese-styled restaurants that make exceptional examples of this so that's okay too.
I like Ha-gau the best, but I also like siu mai, and I love wonton soup, the kind that have a lot of shrimps in it.
This is a tough one. Ha Gau has always been my ultimate fav dim sum. Same goes for Wor Teep. Wor Teep isn't Wor Teep if there's no red vinegar. So yeah -- my vote goes to Ha Gau. I don't think I can EVER get sick of it.
All of them are good!! i like to have siu mai whenever i go for dim sum or for breakfast. love fried dumplings and wonton with soup *mmmmm i don't fancy ha-gau that much as i seldom eat prawns.
I love siu mai and ha gau. I especially love them at those old chinese teahouses. The places are usually kind of dingy inside but the dim sum is so good.
