I just don't like the type of teachers that knows their materials well, but they just can't teach it to others. How do you expect your students to learn when you can't even teach??
LOL... I've seen more than a few contract professionals who don't even know what the hell they're teaching... Sad. Institutions who don't have a handle on what their education needs are will generally fall prey to some of these mediocre 'consultants' that charge 10 times what they're really worth. And BTW, regarding your AV; is that supposed to be an external circulated water jacketed cooling garment of some kind? Rare is the person who is great at doing something themselves; but rarer still is the person who is great at something and is also great at teaching that something effectively to others.
I actually don't mind when the instructors ramble a little bit about their personal life and/or add in some humor to lighten up the class, even if it meant putting the class a bit behind schedule. I personally cannot sit there and listen to the instructor lecture all class. Sometimes, you even learn something [outside of the subject matter] from these personal stories that the instructor tells. Then again, it would become a problem if like a third of every class is devoted to story-telling by the instructor. It has to be balanced, a short story/joke here and there to keep the class awake.
lol, i agree. -^_^ my physics teacher is like that~ doesn't ramble on too much but tries to squeeze in a joke once in awhile when the class seems dead.
my english teacher talks about this all the time he talks about how he was deployed in vietnam how he was in gangs when he was younger how he had women how his body was fantastic how sickly he was how he has a good life how much money he has then he gives us hard hw that sometimes we can't even answer.
It takes a pretty strong individual to shelve their own ego and deliver what they're paid to (the lesson). It's unfortunate that your English teacher isn't such an individual. When the hour long class is all about him, then the students take a back seat, and that's not what they're paying him for. Do him and yourself a favor. Anonymously leave a copy of this response on his desk.
Oh my GOSH!!!!!! I was looking for just this thread! So get this, just had my surgery rotation and in the past whole month we got taught ONLY 3 topics and even that BARELY! Then the nerve of those 'so called teachers' that they screw my end of the rotation OSCE by giving us cases on everything BUT the stuff we had done. And now all i gotta look forward to is "HELLO REMEDIAL" and right BEFORE THE PROFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >(
depends if you are really there to learn When you are paying for education (espeically in the cases in which you want/need to learn), you dont quite feel that way.
