Alright, just a few to add here:

    300GB in Buffalo's 2.5 inches HDD
"This is the story of PC stuff, the inevitable upgrade, bigger, stronger, faster, more reliable...hmm, that remains to be checked but anyway, just to let you know and keep you updated, Buffalo's 2.5 inches HDDs, until now available with 250GB of disk space, grew to a nice 300GB. Of course they still feature the TurboUSB mode.

Available by the end of next month in Japan to any geek with ¥38000 (229€) in his pocket."

Next-Gen iMacs and More Coming Tuesday, New iPod Mid-September
"Someone close to the Infinite Loop Mothership just sent us a tip on what to expect at the Apple event this Tuesday: according to him/her/it, Steve Jobs will announce newly-designed iMacs —as expected— but apparently there will be a lot more. After the jump.

    • New Macbooks: no cosmetic changes, will be getting Santa Rosa chips.
    • Mac mini: total form change, all brushed aluminum and 15% smaller. Base model will have a 120GB HDD.
    • The iMacs will be, as rumored, brushed aluminum.

And as a bonus, "the new ipods will be rolling around mid-September." Well, the next-gen iPods are far away, but we only have to wait two more days to know about the rest of the new hardware and see if the Close Source is right or not.

So how close is this source? Let's say... about 8.9 miles close. My gut feeling knowing who the Close Source is? I think that's pretty much what is going to happen. And it's quite logical too."

First Third-party Native iPhone Application Available Now
"The application is MobileTerminal, "a terminal emulator application for the iPhone. MobileTerminal.app is NOT an SSH client, nor Telnet for that matter. It can however be used to execute a console ssh-client application."

While most iPhone users won't find a terminal emulator exciting, there are plenty of reasons to get thrilled about this development. First and foremost, this is the first iPhone native graphical application done without an official SDK from Apple (there are others, but they are low-level.) This means that hackers are steady at work trying to do useful stuff with the JesusPhone beyond unlocking it and that more applications will follow.

Second, if Google Code is hosting this it probably means either that 1) Apple is giving the nod to this kind of development, 2) they are going to release an SDK or 3) Apple will realize the need for people to access the iPhone as a development platform to do really cool stuff with it. All three options are good for me.

And finally, and most important, we can only hope that someone develops ScummVM and MAME, two game emulation platforms, soon. I want unlimited classic arcade games and Monkey Island in my iPhone. Now. [Google Code and iPhone Dev Team in Giz - Thanks Oscar!]"

    Vista Fix Packs Public

    Most notable changes include:
    # You experience a long delay when you try to exit the Photos screen saver
    # A memory leak occurs when you use the Windows Energy screen saver
    # If User Account Control is disabled on the computer, you cannot install a network printer successfully. This problem occurs if the network printer is hosted by a Windows XP-based or a Windows Server 2003-based computer
    # When you write data to an AVI file by using the AVIStreamWrite function, the file header of the AVI file is corrupted
    # When you copy or move a large file, the “estimated time remaining” takes a long time to be calculated and displayed
    # After you resume the computer from hibernation, it takes a long time to display the logon screen
    # When you synchronize an offline file to a server, the offline file is corrupted
    # If you edit an image file that uses the RAW image format, data loss occurs in the image file. This problem occurs if the RAW image is from any of the following digital SLR camera models: Canon EOS 1D & Canon EOS 1DS

Oh my, a video player that's optimized for dual cores and video hardware acceleration for the masses. :)

Story is too long for a single post, so check out the source. It looks like Sony is really shooting for conquering the family living room. They're also turning the PSP into a pretty spiffy communication device as well. Man, that is a whole load of stuff they're adding. Hope all goes well. -sweat

i'm not sure if it goes here.. but wasn't there a bunch of things happening like torrentspy blocking all american users because of a legal issue or something of that sort.. and there has been something with the WGA which checks if you have a genuine version of windows to allow you to update your system for security measures.. being that some people are unable to verify even though they have a geniuine version... but thats been updated on the earlier saturday :p

WGA is old news, it was implemented ages ago

it allows you to download critical security updates, but nothing else if you run a pirate copy of windows

^ No matter the amount apple try, it will yet be hackable real soon. Once the hackers found the basic, they can easily crack the second one unless if apple plans on spending more $$$ onto making it harder to unlock.

Microsoft makes Office 2007 “The Ultimate Steal”

"Everyone knows Microsoft Office 2007 is quite expensive, and it looks as though even Microsoft has realized it due to a new promotion it started. If you are actively enrolled in education, then you could be in for a very big discount on the price of Office 2007.

The promotion is called “The Ultimate Steal” and allows students to get a legitimate copy of Office 2007 Ultimate edition for US$60. According to Amazon.com’s latest price of $619.99, that equates to a savings of $539.99.

In order to qualify, you have to prove you are enrolled and active at an educational institute. Microsoft is going to use your e-mail address to check this, so you have to use an e-mail address emanating from a recognized educational institute when applying for the lower-priced version.

Alan Yates, general manager of Worldwide Education at Microsoft, said:

We’re listening to students who have told us they need Microsoft Office for their studies and want more flexible ways to get the latest version … We’re committed to providing accessible and affordable technology to students, so they can meet their academic goals. The Ultimate Steal is the latest in a long history of providing compelling academic offers for students.

The offer is available in the U.S. ,Canada, and the U.K., with plans to roll it out to France, Italy, and Spain next week. The offer runs until April 2008."
