good thing there is no dubbing like all those chinese movies that come straight to North America...they actually remade the film with a talented cast

I haven't seen it yet, but I think it'll be interesting
Plus I think it's going to be pretty big at the box office just because of its cast
But I think it will be a good movie
think its a nice movie plot

heard reviews frm a cuple ov ppl who seen the movie both versions. they said that the american version is much better then the hk. but i'l have to see for myself. the american do have sum really good actor. andy lau or any of the asian actor can't compare to these actors.

I went to see the Departed last weekend and was hoping for it would be better than the original. It had an amazing cast including the likes of Nicholson, Damon, and Decaprio. After the movie i left the theaters feeling a bit disappointed. Yes it had everything the American audience wanted; sex, violence, and foul language, but in the end I didnt give a shit about any of the characters. The love story was unbelievable and the relationship between Decaprio and Martin Sheen never developed. The profanity and gritty humor got really annoying after awhile. Its like they kept trying to remind us that this is Boston, this is a gritty movie, this is how Boston gangsters behave. Yes, I get it; I dont need to hear your mamma and cock jokes being exchanged every few minutes by the actors. I dont get why Decaprio's character even stayed as a mole because his superiors treated him like shit, unlike the HK version.

Keep in mind the HK version was a trilogy so it had sequels to further develop these characters, but the first movie alone was strong enough to be regarded as thought provoking crime thriller. There were so many significant scenes in Infernal affairs, not counting the sequels. Where's the scene where the two moles first encountered each other at the store. They had a moment when they sat down on the couch listening to a classic song. WHere was the use of the Morse code which symbolizes the end of the third movie?? Where was the psychological tension between the two characters? Last but not least they had horrible Chinese actors is this movie that couldnt even speak Cantonese. That was a total turn off. And wassup with the rat at the end of the movie?? It just made this movie into a big joke. Was it a total waste of time? No because there were several enjoyable moments. Anyone who is a Infernal affairs fan should check this movie out jus to compare.

One more thing, I know this movie has big stars but I honestly believe Andy Lau and Tony Leung are better actors than both Matt Damon and Leonardo DeCaprio. I cant argue against Jack Nicholson. He's a legend and cant be touched.

    just watched this last nite..
it is better than wat i expected.. but not as good as the hong kong one..

    good effort tho..

they even have the same jokes.. haha..

  16. hmmm... just watched it...

i wouldn't say it was a disappointment coz i didn't have any expectation... the acting was good... but really they could've found a better person to take the female lead...

they begining was too long... they took a lot of elements from the 2nd Infernal Affairs to put in it... n they TOTALLY screwed it up at the elevator n the end... -shrug

compared to The Infernal Affairs, The Departed sucked major ass. they ruined so many of my favourite parts of the original. just go read shadow Thi3f's review because that's exactly how i saw it.
