no no, i'm not. but i do think that in the american society, its educational system is consideribly poorer than the asian countries. and the only reason why america has not gone into the toilet is mainly b/c of its universities. ironically, universities majority filled with professor from asian, euro countries.
hmmmm, if you take your time and draw out each section, then it could be possible. from the looks of it, the numbers they give you will lead to trignometric identities and such lik 2 and root 3 (dunno the root sign) would lead to like the 30, 60, 90 triangle etc.
As soon as you learn sin/cos/tan (grade10?), you can do question1. i) show BEC is 90deg ii)draw triangle A1EC1, find the lengths and then the angle iii)find angle CBC1 (or bust out the protractor and its probably something like 30degs anyway) But I don't see why they would make that a science entrance question. I'd say that only a few chem phDs would ever have to calculate something like that. Biologists would never need it and physics majors probably already know 5 different ways to solve it. Or you could think of it this way...If you need to already know how to solve question1(lines and planes), wtf are you going to be learning in Uni (planes and dimensions)?!?!
humm..... those problems sure are diff lol... the one used on the chinese test actually takes thought, the 2nd ones answers just pops in ur head as u read it
as i wrote in another post, china has learnt university math like 5 years before we did......the thing is, yes chinese are smarter but people wise, they won't get too far.....in Na at least.... for the first question....it's just gr 12 algebra, you're given all the data, but it's proof and you need to remember the different proof rules and it's pretty much saying this equals that if that equals this and then you get the proof....but i failed that part in HS lol....i still ended up gettign the hgihest in the class...so yuou know it's not easy for us either (our standard at least)
chinese people stress subjects in school especially math, whereas the english are the opposite... so its not surprising chinese math exams are more complicated then english math exams.
