Car Buying Adventures Part I Hmm... so just got back from the Lexus dealership in my city. Was lucky enough to catch the manager of the place and was able to talk to him, a slimy, mustachio'd dude in a tweed suit; ie. the epitome of a car salesman. Regardless of his personal flaws however, he let me check out their IS 250's in stock and gave me a run down on pricing and everything, and was nice enough to take me seriously, even though I am a younger customer. He couldn't really tell me anything I didnt already know though; I've pretty much researched anything and everything to do with the IS series. My main concern was what dealer incentives I could get, and whether they would give me invoice price with something like a 3% holdback. It didn't seem like he was willing to give me much wiggle room with packaging however, even though I made it clear that chances of me buying the car would depend greatly on whether the dealership would throw in the X package with leather seating. I kind of refuse to buy a vehicle worth over 30 thousand dollars that doesn't come standard with leather. Since I won't have enough cash to put my 20 grand downpayment on the vehicle until september, i'll continue to push for the leather package to be included in the price. If that falls through, i might end up seriously considering buying a CSX Type S instead >_< Even though my friend just bought one >.<. grrr... oh well, I will probably head back to the lexus dealership some time this week after work, to test drive one of the models on their lot. If it really wins me over, maybe I will be able to live with cloth seats... but i doubt it. The Saga will continue..... sooon
