hey, i just read through the whole thread believe it or not. I have a question: you are banning/warning people who spam or who dig up old threads. What about posting off topic?? (ie, to the OP) That doesn't seem to be policed at all.

Regarding digging up old posts: what should people do if they have a genuine useful reply / contribution to a thread topic to an old or older thread? Should they start a new thread (and be at risk of the wrath of those who say 'use the search feature! ') ? Or should they reply the thread and be okay, because they are providing a genuinely useful/significant contribution?

  14. i dont even think off topic counts...

    Hey!

I am kind of new here myself (around than half year) but so far, I see that as long as you have substance in your response to the OP, not some "OMG THIS IS WRONG" or "HAWT HAWT HAWT" or "thanks" or "cool" or various other spammious incarnation, you are safe.

Of course, it will be helpful if you check the thread (given that it's not like 50 pages" and see if the discussion died because a consensus is reached or "it's a HOAX" LOL

    Hope that helps ;)

Posting offtopic is allowed to a certain extent. W generally have a free flowing vibe here.
If an old post is brought back, it must have a valid reply. The validity of the reply is left to the mods and users discretion. Obviously, we can tell if someone is spamming. If a new thread is started and one alread exists:
-Thread is closed and redirect to exisitng thread
    -Threads are merged.

i dunno about anyone, having a conversation in a thread is kinda okay but then if someone "interrupts" the thread ie. conversation, and addresses the OP, i read somewhere people don't like that...dunno just have this feeling....

Sometimes it feels weird to "interupt" and say something else that is ON topic but is not following the flow of the thread....Does anyone know what i mean?

It's perfectly ok to do so, I do that all the time. You think too much.
