I second that : gettin a DVD off Yesasia I understand the motive of organizing a contest is to encourage more members to send in their pics but organizing a 'beauty' contest might discourage the lesser photogenic ones to send in theirs bcoz they are self-conscious and they know they won't win. So it could backfire. Just my two cents'. And of course some may just send in some pics off the Net or their friends' to win.
How about we make the selection random? For example, say 10 people send in their pictures for the month of May, and the mods randomly select a winner out of those 10 people by whatever process. Kind of like drawing names from out of a hat sort of deal, so that way, more members would be willing to participate since looks don't really play a factor in the winning decision. Only problem with this is that we'll never know whether the mods are being biased or not
HAHAHAAHHA! nice one! lol hmm, but i do agree with what sandy say.. but yeh.. what if the "inactive" just post their pictures to win somehting... they should be withdrawn?
Ohh... and I think to get more people being active on here is that we should have a prize when we hit like uhh.. maybe 500 posts... halfway through 1000 and maybe 50 Thanked. So then everyone will be willing to posts alot and share their media stuff or help out the PA members. I know you already done something like this with the VIP.. but I think thats pretty hard to get what you wanted.
PA should make a list of all the members who have submitted their pics for the purpose of a lucky draw monthly so that those names who didn't get selected may be recycled again for the next lucky draw and also to make sure each member doesn't submit more than one pic. The requirement for those to submit a pic may be a post requirement of let's say 100 posts, so 'inactive' members won't be able to just 'jump into the picture'
that'll just encourage more spam wouldn't it? Unless the posting requirement is 'tightened'. Well sometimes most of us here just make a friendly/sarcastic comment or joke which is 'unconstructive' so that the remark to be counted as a 'post' would be quite unfair.
hmm.. true ^^ but if the post is a spam or they didnt put enough effort on the post.. i think if they type less than 5 words is considered as a spam. And then maybe the post doesnt count.
