THE PA SUGGESTION BOX

So... to discourage spammers, how about setting the automatic posting requirement to at least 50 characters? Is it possible for the website to do it automatically so we cannot post our comment if it's less than 50 characters?
Saves mods a lot of work to 'catch' spammers. I am not saying it will rid the forum of spam but it will reduce it. It will also reduce unconstructive and useless comments

hmm, i have a suggestion, you know how the main pa page has the radio playing when you automatically come into the site, do you think it would be possible to have the radio playing in the forum too? hehe or would that be too much of a hassle...hmm

It's not so hard to come up with 50 characters. Esp if you have got sth constructive/meaningful/worthy to say.

 

lol i just saw these now, i dunno if the PA mods were ever thinking about changing the site layout/colors, but if they ever need some inspiration for a summer theme i found these really appealing... although i know they are kinda web 2.0 designs and a bit beyond what the PA forum is set up as.

^ That is a system many forums use. But again, we'll just end up having a heavy amount of "thanks" replies =_=b which are practically... non-constructive...

Since there's VIP members requirement of 1000 thanked counts, how about makin it necessary to click the thanks button for the person who posted the link, in order to see the download link?
This would encourage more people to contribute to PA by posting DDLs and also a fair way of appreciating their effort.

 

talking bout DJing wouldn't it be better if there's an online radio that introduce newly released songs which are available in the music download section? i think it would be great for people to hear nice songs and immediately get to download it...

 

Great idea, and this avoids the unnecessary spamming if there's no certain post count is required.

Also, I want to add a new suggestion to PA:

Make it obliged for the newbies to read the forum rules by a pop up or a new box for each set of the rules (make 10 boxes they have to click on if necessary) before they can enter the forum. Every new member will already get the standard boards terms of condition if they sign up -which no one reads- but adding extra boxes/pop ups with the rules may help. (whether it's technical possible on vBuletin is another question though)

Once they've gone through the rules and they still manage to break the rules by posting stupid questions without even bothering to check the still available FAQ's, they'll receive a ban for a month and if PA is being kind, they can send them a PM pointing out they HAVE to read/follow the rules instead of checking the boxes as fast as possible to get to the DL section.

 

question: was moving old threads to the offtopic section a method to reduce thread revivals?

if so, wouldnt it be better to close the threads considering that by moving, members lost post counts?
