Was doing this for fun to see how far my computer has depreciated in terms of technology in the few months since I've built it.

$900 budget pre graphics card (Factoring in Shipping Costs):

Processor: Core i7- 2600K $310
Memory: Kingston Hyper-X 6GB $81
Hard Drive: 500gb Momentus XT $110
PSU: OCZ ModXtreme Pro 600Watt $65
Cooling: Corsair H60 $71

Subtotal: $847

Shipping: ~ $50

Total Cost: $897


Maybe I should have waited a few months and built an intel computer instead of my AMD... It's now around the same price, and that processor has about twice the performance of my 1090T at a 5ghz overclock.

5ghz OC .... lmfao... will the h60 be able to cool it?

 

my i3 file server is still not working and its been nearly 5 months >.<
could of got something so much better by now
and im sure it sitll won't be working in the next 6 months cos i'm not home... sighhh

 

You can overclock it to 5ghz on the stock intel cooler, but it's not recommended for long-term.

The h60 would definitely be able to handle it.

The 2600K is nuts...

Makes me want to build a similar desk/case. Would have enough space to add a huge fan for some good air circulation.
