I had the same paperwork posted to me. After speaking to billing enquiry they told me its just follow up paperwork and i don't owe them money. Think they would include a cover letter or something.

It would be cool if we can get the I Cable channels or the other TVB channels (e.g. food, drama, etc)

I'm thinking of joining the TVPad family and buying a TVPad during the week. Can anybody tell me if it's better/necessary to buy the TVPad with the wifi bridge package, or is the standard USB TVPad sufficient enough?

I had a look at the official TVPad website, http://www.tvpad.hk/tvpad/01/index.html, but it only seems to tell me that the model they offer is just TVpad M121, doesn't tell me if it's wifi bridge package or USB (i'm presuming it's not the wifi bridge package), whereas, if I go to the ebay seller that's been mentioned throughout the thread, he seems to offer the TVPad with the wifi N bridge adapter.

Any suggestions as to who to buy from, official website or ebay? Bearing in mind I'm not based in US, and need to have an English menu on the TVPad!

hey could someone confirm that the movie app: Movie Valley is working?
It started to fail about a week ago and I just upgraded to v2.62 from v2.42 and reinstalled all Apps.
The package came with the Movie Valley and some other App like it, I can access the list of movies from that 2nd app but it will continue to buffer and stay at 0%.
The Movie Valley app I am unable to get a list but I can stay in the menu, I would mostly get some caution sign.
My friends tvpad2 can access it in v2.42 and v2.62

I've noticed the new channel (channel 0) for TVB Jade HD is much higher quality than the usual one. But it doesn't run smooth for me at the moment, lots of stuttering. Anyone else notice this?

Compared to last time I watched the TVB Jade HD test channel, it seems indeed they improved the quality of the channel, still not "real" HD quality, but better than the usual one and I am quite satisfied with it. As you have mentioned, sometimes it's a bit of stuttering. I hope they can improve the stability of this channel.

Hmmm, I need to take a look at this new TVB Jade HD channel tomorrow then to see how well it works for me. The Movie Valley app is getting most of the attention in this house :) Thanks for the update though guys!

Looks like you answered your own question or did I misunderstand you when you mentioned that it is working fine for your friend ? I can't comment since I have firmware 2.70 and it is working just fine for me. Maybe it's one of those cases where they need to add your new IP address to some access list. If you haven't done so already, leave a message on the official TVPad forum.

I submitted my MAC to this user vico that a lot of people are talking to. Am I submitting the right info to the right user or is there a specific forum I should post it in on the tvpad forums? I can't read Chinese and I relied on Google Translate to help with registration. I can submit an IP but idk if the router will change it time to time

Yeah, I think that was the guy. So did he sort out your problem ? Otherwise just open your own thread in there. I also use Google Translate to survive in there :)

So it seems. I guess I'll be hearing a lot more Mandarin in house now :) So anyone has any news about this new ... uhhh ... *feature* ?

EDIT: I'll answer my own question. See thread in official forum here: http://www.tvpadfans.com/thread-24659-1-1.html . Looks like it's gone forever ... unless I (or someone else) finds a hack for it.

I believe I saw somewhere that this did not work for someone. I'll let you know if I find the post, but the TVPad does not work with some TV models, so it might be a problem to connect it to your laptop (assuming your laptop has HDMI or Component input).

Well I thought I would give the Windows hack a go (see this post). The PSNetwork.ini file seems to map to the udpset.conf file on the TVPad SDCard. I replaced the content, but no luck :( There does not seem to be anythnig on the SDCard that maps to ppsarea.ini.

I need to either find a way to crack the root account on the TVPad or find a way to decode those .pkg files. I guess it will be a busy weekend :) Just when I thought I could relax a bit.

    Phantoman:
Don't spend too much time over the weekend trying to figure this out. Besides networking, do you also know how to do coding in Java too? Man, you're really talented!!

The shows are still available on the PPS network if you are interested. For some dumb reason, the TVPad devlopers are just hiding the Hong Kong shows. I read somewhere that the TVB shows might be in the Movie Valley app under the paid VIP section if you really want to watch it on your TVPad. I think this was their original plan before I even bought my TVPad. I guess you can figure out the reason why they would do this. Here is a link of all the Hong Kong TVB Drama shows that are released in 2012. Here is also a link of all the Hong Kong TVB Variety shows. You may also narrow searches by country or by the year. You can watch all the shows for free on your Windows, Android, Mac, or iOS devices.

I think sales of the TVPad must be slowing down for the developers. Prices of the device are dropping, and they are starting to charge for shows that we can watch or download for free. I think it is a matter of time before they start saying that "the Hong Kong channels are not working", and that we need to buy the NEW TVPad in order to watch them. That is when we all need to buy the TVPad again. Sound like Apple's marketing for the IPhone :naughty:

For those that are NOT lazy and really want to watch the shows on your TVPad, all you have to do is download the RMVB files for the TVB shows onto your USB memory or SD card and just plug it into your TVPad. Hope that is not too much work.

I just have 1 question. Does anyone know where I can find or download the "Full Install" of the TVPad operating system? Let say I might need it because my TVPad is not working, and I just want to do a Fresh Re-Install of the TVPad Android operating system. Thank you.

can anyone give me a quick guide on how to set up using wireless? i have plugged in a few usb wifi dongles but it doesnt seem to detect it. It just says no wireless lan card when i try to set it up in the settings.
Does it need some different dongles? the ones im using are fine on my pc so im not sure what the problem is.
I have a old wireless router which i can set up as a bridge but seems a bit of a hassle.

Nah, I'm just your average nerd :) I'm not a programmer, but I can survive with Java and similar languages. Anyway, still no luck cracking that root account. If anyone out there has experience cracking Chinese UNIX systems (md5), then PM me. Ideally I need a proper Chinese (Pinyin) worldlist for a bruteforce attack.

I haven't looked into those pkg files that much yet, but I recall there were talks about TVPad releasing an SDK when firmware 3.0 came out. If that is the case, then it should make our lives easier.

Thanks for the info. I definitely do not see it as a big problem since you can still watch the series and shows live. And let's be honest, who does not know how to download nowadays ? EDIT: Btw, I did try out the Movie Valley app through a HK VPN, but just like it is the case with PPStream on the PC, they do not check your location based on your IP address, instead they only check that stupid config file.

I sure won't buy another TVPad for now if they decide to remove the HK channels, definitely not from the same company. I'll probably switch back to my HTPC which has been sitting there mostly idle since the TVPad arrived. Actually I need to find out if there is a PPStream plugin for the XBMC.

No, but without the root account, someone probably would need to pry open the TVPad and read out the ROM or something like that. For now the most we have are the upgrade firmwares for the older devices here: http://www.tvpadfans.com/thread-12659-1-1.html

I'll leave this for others to comment on since my TVPad has a wired connection, but if I recall correctly it doesn't work with all USB Wifi dongles. It looks like you would need one from DLink (see here).
