By this time, we have to remember, this is a TV show. I always nit pick at the logic of certain parts... but we need to just forget about it. Yes it's in modern times, but... it's a damn show about zombies. A lot of shows don't make much sense. Spoiler: I am curious about how Daryl will react to Carol. It seemed he really liked her. Does this mean she's written off the show? Or will she return? Also, in the promo to next weeks episode, the Govenor had some crazy eyes. When he was sitting in front of that fire, and that zombie was walking towards him, (with the voiceover of Hurshell saying he's crazy) I almost half expect him to... bang that zombie or something. It's messed up I know, but the Govenor is pretty far gone it seems. So who knows what can happen. But that's probably just me, huh?
True enough, it's only a zombie show, so we really don't have any expectation of realism to begin with. But suspension of disbelief, IMHO, comes in stages. While we may allow for an imaginary setting, we nonetheless cling to known precepts within it. That's why having certain rules of logic, even in an imaginary universe, is important; at least it is for me. But at any rate, I think Person brings up a really good question; can one have sex with a walker? Would one (pardon the pun) catch a disease? Imagine having an otherwise good looking and not too necrotic walker chick tied to a bed with all her teeth pulled out so that she couldn't bite? I mean, it IS the end of the world after all; the possibilities are endless, LOL... Spoiler: As for Carol ...this is completely uncharted territory vis a vis the comic series. If anyone recalls, in the comic series Sophie (Carol's daughter) is still alive, but on television she was lost and then found as a walker in Herschel's barn. On TV, Carol is expelled from the group, while in the comic she became distraught and commits "suicide by walker" after allowing one (that they had chained up) to bite her on the neck. Since the show now has a "reserved" character, that is (one which they no longer have on the show but could bring back at any time, like The Governor, Morgan, or his two cronies) Carol may make another appearance at some later date and I'm sure fans would love to see her return. Alternatively, if they encounter her transformed into a walker, then Rick may have a lot of guilt thereafter. Who knows? Time will tell. The series will survive given its ratings so they have ample time to work this out. Daryl, on the other hand, is a more immediate problem. I know they're purposely delaying in telling him but his reaction is not going to be pretty. I thought for a long time that the two had some measure of growing love between them and now Rick just put the brakes to that. Daryl may just up and leave like he did when he decided to look for his brother Merle.
Yeah, there were times when I watch the show and I think 'well that's just not realistic or logical at all' I can't believe how strong some zombies can be. Granted, I don't study body decay, so I really don't know how quickly muscules decay and break down. I want to see a scene, where a human is being chased by a zombie, is caught, a when the zombie goes to bite the person, the teeth fall out and the human ends of living, cause the teeth are all gone and is only... being 'gummed'? Know what I mean? I think it would be a perfect mix of suspense and humour. Spoiler: as for Daryl I am curious whether he will leave or not. We know he has feelings for her. But they may play it out like, he's going to leave, until they spot the Governor, so he stays to help protect the prison.
Eww, being gummed ya know. Thinking about it is just nasty but it will definitely be great for those moments when tension starts to build up! Shame Morgan won't appear in this season, hopefully he comes back
Frankly, in terms of known and accepted muscle physiology, zombism cannot exist in the way that it is routinely portrayed in mass media. Muscle contraction requires massive stores of energy that is dependent on oxidation of carbohydrates, with fuel delivered by an intact circulatory and pulmonary system. Once the heart and lungs fail to function, muscles are essentially deprived of any long term fuel and they will not only cease to function, but eventually degrade to a point that they are no longer considered muscle. Of course if we hard line the physiology process then there would be no show, LOL... Having said that, you're absolutely right in that some of the show walkers seem to be extremely powerful, yet their body parts on the other hand, seem remarkably fragile. It looks like one can easily push a pencil or some other long implement into a walker skull without much effort. They also squish very easily as any half ass stomp on their head would cause them to splatter. IMHO, both are examples of extreme artistic license. As for the zombie with all their teeth fallen out and the victim being, like you stated, "being gummed" yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Reminds me of a toothless hooker, LOL...
Well, it looks like PA members aren't that enthusiastic about TWD anymore; the last two eps with the much anticipated 'return' of the governor hasn't had much of a response here. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that there is such a lack of interest. At any rate, since S04, Eps 06 and 07 aired, we now know that... Spoiler: Spoilers ...the two guys (Martinez & Shumpert) that the Governor ended season three's finale with are now both dead, Shumpert revealed to have been careless and succumbed to walkers, while Martinez himself, after dropping his guard and allowing the Governor into his new group, gets murdered by his old boss. Phillip the Governor, who is now known as Brian (having taken a name from graffiti seen on a building he encountered), begins to revert back to his old self, becoming a ruthless manipulator of people again. Their new group is out in the open, and after having already burned Woodbury to the ground, has no other "safe" haven to stay in. The coming attractions for the mid season finale has him demanding to take over the prison by force, in line with the comic version of events. In the print series, one of Woodbury's original women, while attacking the prison under orders from the governor, kills Lori and her baby. After realizing what she had done, she shoots the Governor in the back of the head, killing him. Since Woodbury has been eliminated and is now replaced by a new group (with a new love interest for Brian, nee Phillip); I'm wondering if his new squeeze will wind up killing Rick's baby (and perhaps Beth too as she's been the primary care giver for the child since Lori died giving birth), and then following the print story, kill the governor by shooting him. If there's any character that deserved to die in this television series thus far, it's him. Also, his newly adopted "family" has a really stupid kid that is prime walker bait. One would figure that after a year or two of walker existence, she would have already smartened up to the point of not running around making all that noise and being totally oblivious to danger. I guess we'll see what happens.
I don't think it is because we are not interested but maybe because we don't have that time to provide a thorough analysis lol. At least for me anyways. The Governor, aka, Philip, aka, Brian is one crazy guy, I knew he wouldn't change but the way he killed Martinez was ruthless. I would not say he deserved it (Regardless of the way he treated him and telling him about the rules to join, also how he made him provide him with golf balls). Disgusting man.
Somebody don't like gwai lo shows lol. This is probably only one of those said shows that I watch besides The Apprentice (Sir Alan Sugar version of course lol) because like Shinobi said, barely have time.
Wow... S04_E08, the mid season finale, entitled "Too Far Gone"; what a story. Spoiler: Major Spoilers ...in an epithet to the Governor's supreme vanity, both groups of survivors are dealt ruinous blows, having just about all they had (including many of their lives), laid at the alter of Brian nee Phillip's ego. His cold blooded murder of Herschel didn't surprise me, as the original print story had Tyreese instead, on his knees outside the prison, to be victimized by the Governor. But, even as I had expected the killing it was nonetheless gruesome to watch. As for the stupid little girl Meghan Chambler, who was playing with mud pies finally getting bit, I was like, "...it's about time." Her kind of stupidity wouldn't have lasted so long anyways. Also, the young girls (Lizzie and Mika) who blew away the two shooters who had Tyreese pinned down was unexpectedly awesome; it looked like Carol did have an influence on them after all, and it made them become strong enough to stand up to defend themselves. But I wonder where they ran off to? Judith (Rick's baby), is missing and presumed dead, as at the end of the battle, her baby carrier is found to be empty and bloodied. Since the bus took off, everyone will be on their own in small groups for the foreseeable next ep; Maggie is with Sasha and Bob Stookey (the Alcoholic medic); Tyreese is by himself; Rick is with Carl; and Daryl (who we all thought was about to get bitten, LOL...) finds Beth. A weakened Glen is on the bus with a bunch of other survivors that had departed near the end of the battle. The prison finally is abandoned to a swarm of walkers. Thus, this closes the prison chapter and if one had any doubt, Rick clearly brushes that aside with his closing admonition to Carl, "...don't look back." as they left with the scene of a burning prison behind them. But a few loose ends were still apparent at the end of the story; like Tara Chambler (the girl who was reluctant to participate in the attack; who threw down her weapon), I wonder what's going to happen to her? Where did she run off to? Her lesbian squeeze, the girl Alisha, who had promised to find her after everything is over, is dead, shot straight in the forehead by young and wacky prison girl, Lizzie Samuels. Also, the dead rat on a cardboard in the prison; who left that there; was it Lizzie? Also, Sasha, in her infirmed state; was she offering herself (to thank him) to the Bob the boozer medic? Also, Lilly Chambler, the woman that the Gov was putting the moves on, who delivered the coup de grace after he was mortally wounded by Michionne; what happens to her now? BTW, one complaint I had about this ep is I'm not sure how with all that shooting, at the beginning, no one was getting hit. That seemed to be a bit far fetched. At such close ranges (not even a hundred meters) and with almost no cover, the Governor's people should have been like wheat before a razor sharp scythe. All in all, a great episode And of course... http://www.wetpaint.com/walking-dead/articles/2013-12-01-season-4-episode-9-promo-february-2014
You basically summed up everything that I was going to say. When Brian got stopped from his lethal blows, I literally shouted out "YESSSSSS". For some reason, I wasn't expecting Hershel to die until that smirk on his face (to imply that Rick's speech was powerful, which, can also be argued as, remember this face). Anyways, I was surprised he still had the energy to craw when his neck got chiseled half way and Brian's crazy mind had to finish his off in a gruesome manner. Every single moment in this episode was executed extremely well. The two sisters may somehow survive or place on backup like the others (carol, that man that lost his wife and now son [can't remember his name]). One thing they left unanswered, the rats, who placed them there. Hmm. I was expecting that girl to be bit after she dug up the plate that reads something about flood, but initially I thought she was digging up someones' "grave", but turns out it was the flood that buried the living/dead, now walker. Darly is so awesome man, Michone too but damn the way he swinged the crossbow and threw the grenade into the tank was a recipe of delight. Lured the tanker out and shot him in the chest with the arrow. Oh I was surprised that Brian still had life remaining after being stabbed in the heart. I was expecting Michone to stab him a couple more times for a slow and painful death, though you can say it'll end his life quicker that way haha. That little girl was awesome, two headshots! She was stunned when her man/camper (?) got shot by a little girl and little did she know, she was next lol. Yeah, I would assume the baby sister of Carl is pronounced dead, there is no reason to keep her alive even though Beth is still alive and can act as a mother figure. Them four kids left them there as they were told to head to the bulletproof bus (it seemed like it). Btw, since when did they get "so much" grenades. That's crazy, didn't expect that until Daryl used it after using the walker as shield. February shouldn't be a long wait, only 2 months away. wooo!
Spoiler: I think it was ...Morgan, from the very beginning that you're thinking about; Rick also took the grenades from him too. IIRC, Morgan had a ton of supplies in his room and he gave a bunch of it to Rick when they met again. Also, I have a problem with how Daryl used the walker as a human shield; these are military type weapons with fully jacketed high velocity rounds that are designed to penetrate a target. So how can such weapons be stopped by a simple zombie? If anything, they would have went through him like he was made of nothing. And like you, I was pumped when I saw the Governor finally get his just desserts. I was thinking that Michionne wouldn't kill him so quickly, but I never expected her to just leave; I thought she was going to chop off his arms (or something along those lines) and then leave him defenseless to the walkers. But him getting popped by his GF (Lilly Chambler) was just as satisfying, if a bit anti-climatic.
Oh right, I thought it was from him, just that I don't recall him collecting such explosives. Apparently Morgan will appear later on this season or the next, but surely Rick will tag/join forces with 3 other critical/long lasting (?) cast as shown in the comics. I only know this because I watched a speculation/review video on YouTube that specializes in this series. Yeah I noticed that. When Daryl utilised that walker as a shield, I was thinking, if humans can stomp on their head like butter, why won't bullets penetrate the soft tissues of the walker like paper. It also took me a while to realise, at least I think, that he used his weapon (machine gun/rifle, no idea) and jabbed it up the skull to the point where it protrudes out of the walker's head. Interesting.
Already knew the first episode back from the Mid season break won't be that intense, especially of what had happened previously. Spoiler: my review Poor Hershel, killed for the second time. I thought Carl would get infected as I heard that Robert Kirkman will kill off one of the main characters. Might be Maggie or her sister, which will happen if Daryl ditches her. Which will be no surprise if she's holding him back. I also had expected to see him run out of bullet when the horde of walkers came, but turns out it didn't happen so soon. He did seem like he regret it though. I like this episode as it showed his change of attitude and willingness to stand up for himself. I like the ending where Rick goes it's for you to Carl. Half way into the episode I thought I was watching a commercial or fake stream haha because the atmosphere was so clean and unwreck. Turns out, that scene was depicting what happened to her. Her flashback. But what was that woman that irritated her? She reminded me a bit like Morgans ceased wife but obviously hairdo was different. Mmm perhaps michonne thought that would had been her? Overall okay episode to show what will happen and judging from the teaser for next episode, it appears to be the same but with the other group. Oh I like the bit where Carl thought Rick, his dad, was turning because he was grunting from his injuries, which somewhat sound like a walker.
After the mid season hiatus, this was definitely a good starter to get back on the road, so to speak. I found Rick to be rather lame, and Carl... Spoiler: Carl ...is becoming a real pain in the ass. I was actually hoping he would get bitten. When that walker had his leg, I was saying, "BITE! BITE! BITE NOW!!" Only to be disappointed when his shoe slipped off and Carl got away. The funniest scene too, was when he tried to body slam that door, only to be bounced off and fall on his ass, LOL... And yes, when he thought Rick was becoming re-animated, I thought for sure he was going to shoot him. That bit with Herschel's head was a television spectacle that will be talked about for a long time. Showing a decapitated head on prime time TV is a real risqué thing for any series to do but if anyone were to do it, TWD is the arguably the best vehicle. But, if that were me, I wouldn't have reached down to hold the head, I would have used my foot. Also, the scene where Michione finally snaps and goes off, and starts whacking walkers was awesome. Also, the ending was a little lame; I was imagining that when Michione saw Rick and Carl through the window, when she suddenly relaxed and felt safe, that a walker would come up behind her and bite. At any rate, I imagine next week will tell the story of the other survivors; can't wait
Also Spoiler: Carl I thought when he pushed the door against that walker and revealing some bone, I thought instead of being bit, I thought he could be swiped like what had happened to the guy in the prison? The bit where the walker was handcuffed and managed to break itself free. Now that would be surprising would it not? Yeah about michonne I thought something similar, but instead when she turns around she sees a horde of walkers rushing towards to what seem to be a calm resting area
Considering that Carl had that walkway light (with the sharp end), I'm left wondering why didn't he: Spoiler: why didnt Carl ...just poke the sharp end of it into the zombie's face through the crack in the door, especially when the walker stuck his face out? But, on the other hand, I so seriously wanted Carl to get bit; I've hated him from the beginning of the show, LOL... Also, that town that they're in looks really a bit TOO idyllic. There doesn't seem to be that much destruction evidenced in the any of the surroundings at all. Maybe they can hole up there to get themselves back into shape? As for Michonne; has anyone ever thought that in an apocalypse, when there's very little dating choice left, would Rick consider shacking up with her? Would Carl look upon her as a mother figure? Things worth considering.
TWD S04E10 Inmates, was more of the same, detailing what each of the survivors did after everything fell apart at the prison. But importantly... Spoiler: brining back a lost character ...in the form of Carol. I found it interesting that it was Carol who encounters Tyreese and the girls. Also, the degree of loyalty between characters is evident in how they're frantic about finding each other. What was also telling was the willingness (of the girl carrying Judith) to smother the baby so that its cries would stop. For those that are not aware of history, people actually did do stuff like that in wartime; suffocating crying babies so that their wails do not alert an enemy of their presence. At any rate, I thought Glenn was rather foolish to have rushed into a crowd of walkers like that; I mean, what is he maybe; 150 pounds soaking wet, if that? Evan a 280 pound halfback would have trouble forcing himself through a crowd mass like that. Their weight in numbers alone would have crushed Glenn. But, he was smart enough to scavenge first before fleeing. Stopping to pick up the surviving invader wasn't the best move though as he was already almost to the door. He could have easily left without her. "Maggie" apparently slipped out of character in the first few seconds of her lines when we see her, reverting back to Lauren Cohen's native British accent, LOL... And I thought that the last walker on the bus that she put down but then started crying immediately after; well, I guess AMC wanted the audience to think that she had just stabbed a walkerized Glenn. It was a nice attempt but IMHO, a rather cheap shot. What would have been a much better "oh shit" moment would have been, that she really HAD put down a reanimated Glenn; that would have been a TWD's 'Red Wedding' moment. But in the next scene we see Glenn waking up so everyone was able to breath again. Abraham is finally introduced, and of course, he brings a cutie wearing short shorts, which must be the new killer fashion of the walker world's survival clothing; I mean, can we say cheese? But that Deuce and A Half Abe brings is great. Those things can drive though just about anything.
