It seems to me that you have a crush on this girl for 5 years. Its ok, we all been there. Personally I've been there. But I found the best way is to move on. I met plenty of girls that were more beautiful, fun, and just plain cool to with out with! =D She has viewed you as a friend for 5 years. If you pop out of the closet all of a sudden of vomit your feelings for her. Its not going to look good. No offense. Ok, I've seen this a hundred times. She is going to complain about how her bf did this and that. Yet she still goes out with him. She still have feelings for him. Yes he is a jerk, but some girls are attracted the masculine qualities of the jerk. And your thinking. I'm such a nice guy, I can't believe she's going out with such a jerk. I will treat her like a princess and shower her with gifts and compliments. It doesn't work. She wants you to be a man. And she is only going to go for men, not boys. Tell her that your in love with her. Say it seriously, and mean it. Be direct. If she says she doesn't have the same feelings for you. Say "I understand." And walk away. Cut off all contact with this girl. Its over, the game is up. Rejection will hurt, but it will go away. But know this, you have to be willing to walk away. always.
maybe u need to spend some more time with her and explain why you've not been replying msgs to her. i guess she might think you're in a mood with her. As you said u've been busy, you need to organise yourself a bit and leave some time with your g/f if she's that important to you.

Lol...good on ya for accomplishing ur mission, well in confessing I do recommend do it faster don drag it too long cause once the chance flies pass then u either wont have the chance no more or have to wait a few more years.
