Cantonese...and Mandarin mixed? My parents speak cantonese, and I understand fluently..but speak sort of broken cantonese. I just started taking mandarin this year, and now i speak better mandarin than i do cantonese..but still understand cantonese way more than mandarin. Ive also become obsessed with Mandarin pop. Its confusing now, i feel like im betraying my culture! but cantonese is still way better :]
ngai, cantonese, mandarin (not much but enough to order food. dancey1), vietnamese (only to point of ordering food ) I also mix all my languages together so it's basically Chinglish.-bowroflarms
i can speak mandarin...besides that, i speak very broken cantonese..haha..i can understand cantonese if ppl talk it to me..
My family is a taishanese decent. I speak taishanese and cantonese[learned from tvb ] In cantonese you can say "Where are you?" [Lay herng been dou?] In taishanese, it becomes [Ni hiang nai?] It's hard to explain in text, but if you can speak and listen to cantonese fluently, you can understand taishanese pretty easily
Cantonese, can't understand Mandarin at all, except for a little Taiwanese-Mandarin (from the drama's), because that dialect sounds like Cantonese.
