Oh interesting thread this is! i can speak fluent cantonese, hakka and a quite a few offensive words in mandarin combined with some body language (believe me... its very useful).
I'm from America and I speak Cantonese. I can understand Toishan and if you speak slowly, can comprehend a little mandarin. My parents came here from China at an early age, so my first language is English.
I speak Cantonese...but it's not so good cause i was born in America and my friends are all different nationalities so i speak english most of the time so everyone understands. I only spoke Canto when speaking to my parents so it has gotten worst while i was growing up. I wish I was fluent and spoke other dialects too. My parents were born in Vietnam but my grandparents were born in China, just not sure which part of China.
I can speak some Canto since my parents speak to me in that language, but being born in America, my Canto isn't very good. I'm trying to learn Mandarin since so many of friends speak it, starting to take some classes now, hopefully I can pick it up...
sadly i speak none...:( but that doesn't change the faqt i wanna learn it woul'd be awesome to learn canto anyway if som1 have any suggetion how to learn this language plz pm me
I speak Mandarin, Cantonese and Hokkian. But I'm not so fluent/native since I live outside China's . . . I'm more better at hokkian and mandarin ^^;
