i speak mandarin, im actually hokkien but i could barely speak and due to tvb my canto is better than hokkien
i speak MANDO! and i can read it too and write some... its funny actually... coz i never went to chinese school in my life i im born i Australia an dlived here all my life LOLS...-bigsmile
Cantonese!! i'm pretty fluent, considering i'm born and raised in montreal my whole life. visited hong kong last summer and most of the sales clerks can't even tell that i'm a tourist. i use to be able to speak fluent toisanese, but i lost it once my grandmother passed away. "learned" manarine in chinese school, my my class was a joke.. ppl were able to shout answers across the room and the teacher didn't even care =__=
I speak Cantonese... But I can understand some Mandarin and Taishanese... Unfortunately I can't really speak either...I intend to learn....Someday...=] My mothers' family are from TaiShan and my father's are Hakka people that moved to Hong Kong before my dad was born... Then my parents moved to merry ol' England...which is so COLD... And that is my life story....=] x
I am a native Cantonese speaker. However, I can somewhat understand Mandarin since I took a course for a year. I am trying to improve, but it is taking a very long time since I do not speak it at home. I hope that I can learn more by watching more Chinese television.
