well i actually worked for the canadian 2001 census.. and yeah it isn't accurate since u can say that ur canadain and u don't have to answer that you are chinese. but at least it gives you a rough idea. I say i am chinese first and then Canadian. For one thing i live and work here in Canada where it is "equal opportunity" hahaha i satisfy so many work requirements by being a visible minority and also being a female! hehehe. Seriously!
We pretty much have taken over all the major cities that matter =) Thanks for looking up the stats hkm91450 =) Yeah, I worked for the American census in the past and many people either don't put an answer thinking that the government will discriminate against them, or they put other if they are Wa Kiew Chinese; and still some are mixed Chinese & White and either leave the question blank or label themselves mixed....
I consider myself equally Chinese & American/Canadian. I feel I have Chinese qualities that straight up Americans/Canadians lack; however by the same token, I possess qualities which fob Chinese lack. I am thankful though that I am living in North America instead of Asia. Asia is fine and dandy for vacation, but I would never want to live there or raise my children there.... I'm a hybrid !!! haha....ecologically friendly j/k =P
My nationality is 100% American. I was born here, raised here, educated here and enjoy the freedoms here. No, I don't agree with everything my gov't does but it doesn't change my nationality. My race is 100% Chinese. My culture is 50/50 american/chinese.
Chinese first, Canadian second. Chink pride man, all you people think that's equal or your other nationality first have no Chink pride. Plus, I don't like Canada much anyways, fuck hockey
hmm i voted chinese first then.. canadian.. but as im typing this righ tnow.. i feel that i treat myself equally instead.. so.. iono.. but i will never regard myself as being chinese as second..
If you were proud of being Chinese, you wouldn't refer to yourself as a chink. That's a racial slur white people use to insult us. Those of us who value both our Chinese & Western heritage equally doesn't mean we are not proud of being Chinese. Just as we wrote exactly, we are proud of being BOTH and thankful for what each side has given us.
