Keep the Mini. I've thought about something similar. The cost of getting rid of the Mini and upgrading to something else + the mods for the new car will be more than fixing the Mini and getting more mods. Regardless if what you get, there will be maintenance cost. Get the Mini fixed then get some nice coils and it'll feel like a new car. That's exactly what I did with the GTI. Threw on some KW Variant 3s and it completely rekindled the spirit of the car.

with your budget, i would be getting an EVOIX (wtf? u got a STI but not an EVO?), but since it's not on the list, i would be getting a used 2010 STI. The widebody kit and its unique boxer sound just make me wanna car-rape it (whateva that means, i dunno myself). But if u want the older ones, i would go for the '06 STI, altho i seem to remembered reading somewhere that there was a recalll on the engine.

not very fond of the coopers. I thought they look ugly even with mods and a whole new look of the car.

that article u posted, seems to say the FRS and FT86 are the same thing?
    *shrug

i did see similarities, but they appear to be slightly different...

    2L RWD... then add a turbo! =D

I think the Toyota version is the FT-86. The Scion version is the FR-S.

I love my GTI, but since you value design and style, it would disappoint you. The TT uses the same engine and has a stylish interior.
I would either go for the TT or the turbo Mini. The TT offers a better ride, when I test drove the Mini, I found the suspension to be far too harsh to live with as a daily driver. Just my 2 cents.

with the budget you have, buy the Camry, it's reliable and the maintenance is pretty cheap.
what more do you really need? if you want some that not of the norm...keep saving your money and drive your Mr. Bean car till it croaks.

A Camry never even crossed my mind. And it never will be.

Been looking in the M3 forums lately for a 2005-2006 low mileage E46 M3. If the car is well taken care of, with a good prepurchase inspection, the maintenance isn't as bad as people usually stereotype it to be.

    Honda S2000?
    Acura NSX? lol
    BMW M3..
    VW GTI..

But as far as being reliable, I don't know how long most cars last, like maintenance free/less expensive to fix.

I'm actually considering a 2005-2006 low mileage E46 M3. Going to start shopping around winter time as they tend to get cheaper that time of year.

  15. M3 eh?! why not a 1 series M?

A nicely used 2005-2006 E46 M3, low mileage, optioned out is around 30 to 35K

A BMW 1M with no options new is 50K+

  17. ^ Find a used one... might not be many but there should be some out there..

Most likely not. There is still a waiting list for the BMW 1M. With it being such a limited run it would be unlikely that a used one will be in the market within a year. And even then it's probably ouch of my price range.

Ahhh I want a E46 M3 so bad now. I was thinking about going to test drive one but now I'm scared I'll be too attached.

M, the Most Powerful Letter in the World!

The E46M3 with the S54 inline6 engine is a highly praised car around the automotive arena. It still maintaining many of the M characteristics with raw power. Personally I would prefer this over the E9x M3, and I am a big fan of the E46 platform and its S54 engine myself. The only issues I can think of now is the VANOS and the sub frame? might be a potential problem. Other than that, its a pretty good looking car in both exterior and interior! -blush2

Other choices worth mentioning is the Z4 M Coupe, or the Honda S2000. Both of them will perform flawlessly with tons of fun, but the only drawback is a very small car with little room for other stuff.
