If u know how to read chinese, then watch tvb serries that are in manderin and maybe that would help. If it doesn't help, then listen to Cantonese and Manderin Music, like the same song cuz thats how i learned manderin. Then go to a house with a karokee machine and u can test ur manderin with the music because u can hear what ur sating in the speakers. It really is useful.

just watch movies...it works. Watch Infernal Affairs, if you've seen it in Canto, watch it again in mandarin so you know what they're saying. and say those lines back again yourself.

Take classes, sing along to songs, or look up words from the dictionary(boringest way)

Best way to learn chinese is to find an environment in which you'll be speaking or practicing chinese reguarly each day. Dating someone chinese could also help, but you'd have to be careful of the nagging...

i'd say watch a lot of movies or series.. but also have subtitles so that you have an idea what is going on still.

Find a favorite song and sing along with it whenever you get the chance. This is how I learn some of my mandarin.

I definetly improved my Chinese thru watching chinese movies & series, as well as listening to lots of chinese songs. But I would reacon the best way is to attend a proper course
