    Touhou games are my favorite bullet-hells, but they're so dang hard to play sometimes. Now a days all are play are FPS' .... so naming a shooting game that's NOT FPS is incredibly ridiculous to me.

    Gears of War. GOG 2 coming out soon. The graphics are extreme on HD. Halo was a good FPS.

    i think he means side/vertical scrolling shooting games......

    anyway mine would be the Touhou Project games with I think Perfect Cherry Blossom being my favourite.....since it was my first :D

    normal mode is hard enough to beat without using continues for me, let alone attempting hard or lunatic :p

    The fighting game spin-offs are fun too!

    Parodius is my all time favourite side scrolling shooter, Contra and Pop n Twinbee for the Snes were also great - Games like Ikaruga and 1942, whilst great, are simply too hard for the likes of mere mortals like me :'(
