FFVIII because of the main character that was really cool. The advanced technology was something cool to have with the great graphics (at the time when it was released). Loved the story, the romance between Squall and Rinoa, another part of the story that was compelling was Laguna's past connected with the main story. FFVII because of its cool characters and long lasting adventure and a lot of stuff to do at the end, like getting all the strongest weapons.
