^ You said something about photo editing. I think the mac version of Photoshop has more features, but I'm not 100% sure.
lol that reminds me of the old mac commercial on tv. mac: uh.. its hard to picture a family photo with a pie chart. pc: no its not. this light grey area can represent the fun, and this darker area, the elapsed time of the fun. something like that lol
dont buy a mac unless you know what you are doing. You lose alot of compatibility by buying a regular mac book, unless you are getting the Pro, which has the power and space to easily dual boot mac OSX and Vista. Mac laptops are over priced and under powered. I would suggest IBM for hardcore computing, or just Acer or HP for an entry level portable.
Hmm, no Mac for me then...although I do get paid for my photos I'm in no way a pro yet so it's not likely I'm getting the Pro version of Mac. So, back down to Acer, HP, Dell...(and Fujitsu Siemens?)
My 2c: Don't buy ACER unless you did thorough research for that particular model, since ACER is known to have short lifespan (and breaks down easily) HP is slightly better, but if you can find an authorized dealer locally, go for an ASUS or Fujitsu... It's slimmer and can be quite powerful (and stable too)
^Now you mention it...I do recall having read some negative reviews on some Acer stuff. So I'll now focus on Asus, Dell and Fujitsu. (glad someone is positive about the latter one!) I'll do some more homework on these 3, thanks for all the tips for now all!
Check out Alienware. The m5550 fits your budget with room to upgrade. I bought an Alienware a few months ago and I couldn't be more happy with it. If you have any questions regarding Alienware feel free to shoot me a PM. http://www.alienware.co.uk/product_pages/notebook_all_default.aspx
i would suggest dell. reasonable price, quality, most important is their complete cover insurance. they will replace u a new laptop if urs have a major problem(eg: spill water onto laptop) Fujitsu is abit more expensive too with low end specs but the quality is good. for hp, it is also same as Fujitsu, slightly cheaper than Fujitsu. Hp is only facing hdd problem. like my friend bought it about 2 months ago, he bought a hp laptop with a faulty hdd. after install xp, he cant format it. he can even reset the bios or any do any adjustment in bios, so hp replace a new hdd for him. For dell, u can customize what u want in ur laptop. most importantly, they provide u everything like winxp, driver, mircsoft works for hp, u'll have to download ur own driver from their website and u have to create ur own restore cd so that u can format next time. thats what my friend told me.
I don't recommend Dell, but this non-recommendation is not from any personal experience, so it is kind of unfound... But yeah, if I have the money and/or choice, go for ASUS or Fujitsu... That's two brands I would recommend (besides, of course, Mac the prettiest of them all )
Toshiba laptops are good and reliable, but usually on the chunky side (big and heavy)... Not the most girl friendly laptops out there... VAIO is expensive (and I have this thing against all things SONY besides the SE mobiles), I don't think I've seen a dealer for Advent or Phillips in my town... So no clue how they are...
Sony overprices most of their products, including their laptops. You can find computers from other brands for a cheaper price, while still maintaining the same quality or possibly getting something even better. Lol I sound like a broken record player. I post this wherever sony products are mentioned lol
I agree with you on that... EXCEPT Sony Ericsson mobiles which is decent in quality and not outrageously overpriced. Or I am still bitter about my ex-LG and ex-Nokia and ex-Motorola phones...
Sony Viao are notorious for being overpriced. Also, it is not very user friendly when it comes to hardware repair. All hardware repair must be done through Sony, which WILL get expensive.
I have a few friends with sony computers and they say they dont break down as easily as the other laptop companies they bought from but i dunno lol but still where did advent and packard bell and phillips go?? huh? huh?
I guess your friends won the grand prize of fortune since their VAIO laptop didn't break down (as they usually do, prematurely, for the rest of us) and BTW, no need to get all worked up, I answered...
I haven't heard much of VAIO"s going out... they're usually quality... their screens are just brililant... but they're heavily overpriced... i can price a dell laptop with better specs at several hundreds less... Dell laptops are fine... I don't see why everyone's smashing Dell... their service is pretty good... if u don't like it after 30days... they'll pay you shipping cost to return it for full refund... u can't really beat that... ASUS/Sager/Fujitsu are all sound notebooks aswell... and Fearless... i don't see why u couldn't dual boot OSX and Vista on a macbook i mean u are running a C2D processor + minimum 80gb HDD, that's plenty powerful as it is; u'd just need more ram... u could always dual boot with XP Pro instead...
