I will go back to HK and work and most likely marry a chinese lady. Therefore, my kids will have to learn chinese in HK.
my kids will have to learn dutch, chinese (2 main languages) and french, german, english at school (that is a must on high school here)
Wow, define 'here'. Which country is this? Hehe from what you said, I'm guessing that you're multilingual. Amazing! =D
yeah ofcourse! but i have to learn chinese properly myself first...lots of time left for that though..tihihih
I won't teach them personally, but they will have to go to school in HK so they will learn chinese. I think the best plan is for my kids to learn chinese in HK up till about 10 years old and then bring them back to Canada to learn english. That way, they will know about languages fluently.
Don't have kids yet lol! But if I did had kids, sure I'd teach'em.. so much fun to know chinese... the jokes.. the games.. etc lol! And plus.. a person is worth much more in todays' working society knowing an extra language.
yes, teaching them Chinese is a must, I would like my kids to know both Canto and Mando they can always learn English in school
well yes I would if I know enough myself, but I can only speak chinese (cantonese)... can't even write a sentence...
I felt it is good to teach them another language beside english. My niece is a mixture. Her parent speak english to her but our family speak cantonese at home. So she learn and speak cantonese with us a lot. She is very fluent in that dialect beside english but her father till now never able to speak that dialect. Smile. She is determine to learn mandarin too which I think it is good. So why not teach kids another language when they are capable during young age. But only hope they continue till going to school. Example like my other relative, her children speak another dialect but after they went to year 1, they don't want to speak their native dialect and their mom give up teaching them. Now they regret which what they told me themselves. I know english is important too but also with other language. Keep continue to teach your children, they will appreciate it when they grow up later.
Definitely. I believe if you're Chinese, you should be able to speak and write Chinese. It's a disgrace when other race can speak your language when you yourself is Chinese and can't speak your own language
yea i probably will. i quit chinese school ages ago cos i was lazy =( but now i regret not being able to write or read chinese
