My brother failed teaching his kids cantonese, but I wont make the same mistake when I get my own children. Knowing 2 or more languages has its benefits and it is kinda our root to our own culture.
i will teach my children chinese. It´s good to speak more language. I can only speak in cantonese. it´s a pity that i can´t read and write in chinese. I never have the chance to learn that in germany.
I wish I can teach them Chinese..i suck at Chinese myself so I see some difficulty already =\ hopefully i can find a wife that's better than me that can educate them lol ________ Lincoln Blackwood History
totally agreed... i myself can speak like 5 different dialects except mandarin so no doubt i'll encourage my children to learn as well... ^^
im chinese but i was born in nother country and i cannot write language or read as i would need to ask my mum or dad to help me understand what does it mean i feel sad
Definitely an extra language benefits them. It will be stupid not to because if you go back to HK or china and cant speak a bit of chinese you d feel left out like with a bunch of relatives or friends.
of course ! knowing another language will definitely be useful. good for a future career and also to keep tradition. my spanish teacher told me that when a kid is four years old, that's the best time to teach up to five different languages. i'll want my kid to know english, mandarin, cantonese, spanish, and...don't know the fifth one yet.
i would teach my kids to speak chinese but if they don't want to go to chinese school, i wouldn't necessarily force them to though teaching them many languages at the age of five is a good idea...but will they remember them all as they grow up?
