I think it sucks that you still have to buy Beta Software, if they want more testers, it should be free
Microsoft is forcing every PC manufacturer to have every Pcs to have Vista install than Windows XP from march 2007. Why is microsoft doing this? Vista is more expensive and annoying pop up messages comes up when you try to perform a task. I would not upgrade to vista as I would need to upgrade my memory, graphics card, buy a new motherboard and get vista as well. It too pricey if I intend to upgrade to vista
If you have a computer that is more than 2 years old, most likely you have to do some kind of hardware upgrade to your computer in order to install vista. It would make more sense to buy a new computer with Vista installed. All the new computers should have Vista installed in the next few months.
I think in mid January 2007. If you bought a new PC from Dell now. You will get a free upgrade to Vista in the new year when it is released.
Windows Vista should come with new hardware investments. Even with recent computer purchase, you'll need to purchase more DIMMs for Windows Vista to run comfortably. The feature I don't like about Vista is Genuine Software Validation. If your Vista fail to validate, it will gradually disable the features until you buy a new licen$e. You can surely try to call Micro$oft for credit but the time spend hagging probably end up costing the enduser more than buying a new license. Is it worth it? IMHO, not unless you want to run in x64 flavors of Windows Vista. Also, not many vendors have their x64 apps out yet, especially security/av vendors still have not get their compatibility straigthen out yet. I think my choice is to wait for a little longer (maybe the earliest is June/August 2007). I definately don't see value running Windows Vista with 32-bit compatible mode.
Vista eat up too much resource. You would need to upgrade to 4 gig rams and 4ghz cpu in order to multi task.
It seems hackers are busy and had successfully cracked the Vista Activation Server. There are 2 flavors - Key Management Service (KMS) and Multiple Activation Key (MAK). KMS activation is good for 180days and after that the install computer will reconnect with the KMS to receive a new key. MAK keys are like traditional activation method just like Windows XP and Vista Home and Vista Ultimate editions do not accept KMS keys. Failure to activate will cause Windows Vista to gradually drop the enhanced features until it become unusable. I think the push from Microsoft is to run Windows Live so eventually all OS will run via SAS (Software As a Service) so Microsoft will be just like another utility company and send you a M$ monthly bill so Windows Vista could be the last OS you can buy off the retail store shelf.
im too comfortable with xp right now...i don't want to bother with the new stuff but chances are i have to play with it when it is starting to get big since im a computer tech and need to fix PCs. Chances are its a good thing to know a few things about it.
i want to change to it the layout of it is nice but beta crashes alot... its not as stable as window xp home edition =P
I would wait a year to two year before I upgrade. That way alot of the bugs would be fix and i would be able to see how it run in a large range of pc.
no choice but to get it, if you want to use DX10 and play the future games the way they are meant to play.. ill probably wait until nvidia releases midrange 8800 cards and then build a system around that..
